SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League meeting with Man City.
Borussia Dortmund vs Man City (Wednesday, 20:00)
Manchester City will be desperate to avoid another shock Champions League exit when they travel to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund in the second-leg of their quarter-final tie.
The Citizens, knocked out by Liverpool, Lyon, Tottenham and Monaco in recent years, recorded a last-gasp 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund last Tuesday night, leaving this last-eight showdown delicately poised ahead of this week’s return fixture at Signal Iduna Park.
The Premier League champions-in-waiting warmed up for this second-leg showdown with a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds on Saturday, on afternoon where Pep Guardiola chose to rest a raft of his key first team players.
Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, kept their slim hopes of a Bundesliga top-four finish alive with a morale-boosting 3-2 win over VFB Stuttgart on Saturday.
Man City are a general 8/13 to get back to winning ways here but as ever I’m going to head to the Bet Builder feature to throw together a same game multiple.
If we combine over zero Man City goals, each team to see at least one card and over two match cards we will be presented with a backable 4/5 (Bet 365) shot.
City have avoided defeat in each of their last 18 away matches in all competitions and they will be coming up against a Borussia Dortmund side who have slumped to defeat on seven occasions on home soil this season.
It’s also worth noting that Man City have made the bulge at least twice in each of their last four Champions League matches, while Dortmund have conceded two or more goals in six of their last seven outings.
With that in mind, I’m happy to side with at least one City strike here, but in order to nudge up the price, I’ll also back each team to pick up a card and over two match bookings.
Borussia Dortmund have picked up two or more bookings in each of their last three Champions League fixtures, while Man City have seen at least one card in each of their four European away matches this season.
Given what’s at stake here, coupled with the wealth of attacking talent that will be on display, I’m more than happy to throw some cards into the above-mentioned Bet Builder.
What’s more, Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande is the man in the middle for this match-up, with the La Liga whistler flashing four or more cards in each of the last three Champions League fixtures that he has taken charge of.
Recommended Bet
- Over 0 Man City Goals, Over 0 Borussia Dortmund Cards, Over 0 Man City Cards & Over 2 Match Cards – Bet Builder – 4/5 (Bet 365)
