SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich’s Super Cup showdown on Tuesday night.
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich (Tuesday, 19:30)
The German Super Cup takes place on Tuesday night as Borussia Dortmund square off with Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park.
BVB have slumped to defeat in each of the last five editions of Der Klassiker, failing to table a triumph in this fixture since lifting this trophy two years ago.
However, Marco Rose’s men made a blistering start to their Bundesliga campaign on Saturday with a thumping 5-2 win over Frankfurt, helping our man Greg MacLean’s double sail home.
Bayern Munich, on the other hand, began the defence of their Bundesliga title with a 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach in Julian Nagelsmann’s first match in charge.
Despite that early-season setback , the German champions head into this dust-up as 6/5 favourites but I’m going to swerve the match result market and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
If we combine each team to take over two corners each team to see over zero cards we will be presented with an eye-catching even-money (1/1) play.
Goals have been a regular feature in this fixture over the years, with each of the last four meetings generating at least five match strikes.
With all things considered, we should see plenty of goalmouth action at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night, and in turn, plenty of corner kicks.
Both of these Bundesliga behemoths were unsurprisingly strong performers in the corner markets last season, with Bayern averaging a league-high 6.94 flag kicks per game while BVB were averaging 5.09 corners per 90 minutes.
With that in mind, coupled with the plethora of attacking talent that will be on display here, I’m more than happy to back both teams to take at least three corners apiece during this showpiece.
Given that Dortmund and Bayern have thrown up some fiery fixtures over the years, I’ll complete the even-money (1/1) Bet Builder with each team to see at least one card.
Both big-hitters will want to lay down an early marker under the Westfalenstadion lights in front of 25,00 supporters, not to mention each team went into the book during both Bundesliga bouts last term.
