After delivering another winning selection on Sunday, SlipsTips is back to share a Booking Points double from across two fixtures in the UK on Wednesday.
Dundee United vs Kilmarnock (Wednesday, 19:45)
Two of the Scottish Premiership’s bottom-three sides will do battle on Wednesday night, as Dundee United welcome Kilmarnock to Tannadice.
Rock-bottom United’s mini-revival under new manager Liam Fox appears to be somewhat fading, with the Terrors tasting defeat in each of their last three league games, although it took a last-gasp double from Celtic to down them on Saturday.
As for 10th-placed Kilmarnock, they have managed to keep their neck above water for most of the season so far, although they make the trip to the City of Discovery having lost each of their last two league games.
With a closely-fought fixture between two clubs struggling at the wrong end of the table anticipated, I’m going to throw 30+ match Booking Points into the first half of a 9/10 (SkyBet) double.
Dundee United have earned an average 2.14 yellow cards per-game this season, while Killie’s tally sits at 2.50, not to mention referee Grant Irvine’s card per 90 average in the Scottish top-flight this term stands at 38.75.
With this in mind, coupled with the fact that the previous two meetings between the pair this season have yielded 30+ Bookings, I’m more than happy to side with a repeat here in what has the feel of a real early-season relegation six-pointer.
Shrewsbury vs Oxford (Wednesday, 19:45)
Both Shrewsbury Town and Oxford United will be bidding to return to winning ways when they meet at New Meadow on Wednesday night.
Steve Cotterill’s hosts snapped a two-game losing run by picking up a point at Portsmouth in their last league outing – a stalemate that leaves the Shrews sitting 14th in the standings.
17th-placed Oxford, on the other hand, are unquestionably underachieving, with Karl Robinson’s side registering just two wins across their last nine tier three tussles.
Given that both sides will be desperate for points with a view to moving up the table, I’m more than happy to side with 30+ booking points in a game that should be played with plenty of intensity.
Although Shrewsbury are averaging just 1.50 cards per-game this season, this a stark contrast to the U’s, who are currently one of the most ill-disciplined sides in the division having averaged 2.44 cautions per game, a figure that increases to a league-high 3.00 when Oxford are operating away from their Kassam Stadium headquarters.
While referee Darren Drysdale is a standard-frequency card issuer, he has delivered 30+ Booking Points in five of his last six EFL assignments, and he should be kept busy under the Shropshire lights.
