The final round of Champions League group stage games get underway on Tuesday night and I’m heading to Stamford Bridge where there is little at stake.
Chelsea vs FK Krasnodar (Tuesday, 20:00)
Chelsea have taken control of Champions League Group E and the in-form Blues look well placed to land another three points on Tuesday night.
Frank Lampard’s star-studded side sealed qualification last midweek with a stunning 4-0 win at Sevilla.
Consequently, the capital club have sealed their passage to the knockout stages with a game to spare and I fancy Lampard and Co to sign off in style when FK Krasnodar come to town on Tuesday night.
Murad Musayev’s men arrive in west London having already guaranteed a crack at Europa League football post Christmas, so this match is very much a dead-rubber for both sides.
I’ve penned a separate match preview on site for this Matchday Six match-up but I’ve since identified another Stamford Bridge Bet Builder that makes appeal.
The 4/5 (Bet 365) combination that has caught my eye is Chelsea to win, over one Chelsea goal, over three Chelsea corners and over zero Krasnodar cards.
Indeed, Blues boss Lampard could well ring the changes on Tuesday night, however, I suspect Chelsea will have enough strength in depth to swat aside their Russian guests.
Lampard shuffled his pack as Chelsea put Sevilla to the sword last midweek and it’s worth mentioning that the Blues have made the net bulge at least twice in each of their last four Champions League fixtures.
With that in mind, I’m happy to back Chelsea to chalk up at least a couple of strikes against a Krasnodar side who will be playing for pride, but I’ll also back the hosts to hit four or more corners here – they have racked up seven and eight flag kicks across their last two matches.
I’ll also add in at least one Krasnodar caution – the Russians have collected at least one card in all five of their group games so far – and it’s worth noting that the above-mentioned Bet Builder has banked in four of Chelsea’s last five victories across all competitions.
