Leeds helped us land a lovely even-money winner on Friday night and I’m hoping for more of the same in Lanarkshire on Saturday.
Hamilton vs Hibernian (Saturday, 15:00)
Hamilton Academical landed their first home win of the season last weekend but they can expect a tougher test when Hibernian come to town on Saturday.
Accies have had a tough season so far, however, there were signs of improvement on show at the Fountain of Youth Stadium during last weekend’s 1-0 win over 10-man Kilmarnock.
Hibs, meanwhile, recorded a convincing 3-0 win away at Motherwell last Saturday and they will be looking to leave Lanarkshire with another three points this weekend.
Jack Ross’ appointment has been a game-changing factor in Hibs’ revival and last time out the men from Leith leapfrogged Aberdeen to move into third-place.
The Hibees are now unbeaten in five and head to Hamilton as red-hot favourites at a general 4/7, however, there is an alternative angle that has caught my eye in the card markets.
Hamilton are priced up at 4/5 with Sky Bet to receive 20 or more booking points during this clash, and that betting angle makes appeal.
Brian Rice’s battle-hardened side have forged a reputation as one of Scottish football‘s survival specialists and they are averaging 1.88 cards per game this season – the second highest average in the division.
Accies knack for beating the drop will have to be relied upon more than ever this season and Rice’s troops could revert to the dark arts when trying to shackle their superior opponents on Saturday.
The 20+ booking points play has landed in eight of Hamilton’s last 11 league matches and I’m more than happy to side with a repeat here given that Hibs have such a large pool of attacking talent to draw from.
What’s more, referee Kevin Clancy will take charge of this tussle and it’s worth noting that he was the most card-happy match official in the Scottish Premiership last season.
