SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Aberdeen and Rangers’ hotly-anticipated Scottish Premiership showdown at Pittodrie on Sunday.
Aberdeen vs Rangers (Sunday, 12:00)
The standout fixture from this weekend’s set of Scottish Premiership matches will take place at Pittodrie on Sunday lunchtime, as Aberdeen play host to to arch-rivals Rangers.
After storming to a third-place finish last season, Barry Robson’s side have yet to hit top gear this term, and that was evident when being pummelled 6-0 by Celtic at Parkhead a fortnight ago.
Rangers, on the other hand, have demonstrated marked improvement under Philippe Clement’s tutorship, with the Belgian extending his unbeaten start to life in the Ibrox dugout with a 2-0 win at Livingston last time out.
As such, the Light Blues head north as general 1/2 favourites, however I’m going to follow a familiar theme in the Bet Builder market given that we have all the necessary ingredients required for an action-packed encounter in the north east.
There are no shortage of contenders and cases to be made in the player foul markets here but I’m going to opt for both Slobodan Rubezic and John Lundstram to commit a foul at 5/6 with Sky Bet.
While Aberdeen’s acquisition of Rubezic looks a shrewd one, 23-year-old has been the Dons’ most prolific hatchet-man this season, amassing five yellow cards in 11 top-flight appearances to date.
What’s more, the Montenegro international has averaged 1.3 fouls per-game in the Scottish top-flight this term thus far, and I see no reason to oppose that trend on Sunday in fixture where it is not uncommon to see tensions boil over
As for Rangers, their midfield destroyer John Lundstram looks a strong contender to commit at least one foul during this dust-up.
The Scouser will no doubt be one of the main protagonists in what promises to be a fiery midfield battle, not to mention his love of a strong tackle has seen him average 1.1 fouls per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season so far.
Given that both of these players are no strangers to landing themselves in trouble with referees, backing the pair each to commit a foul at 5/6 (Sky Bet) stands out in what promises to be a pulsating encounter at Pittodrie.
