Burnley vs Chelsea
FST Predicts: 2-0 Chelsea
Still searching for their first victory of the new Premier League season, the division’s joint-lowest scorers Burnley continue to look low on self-belief and short on quality in the final third.
With three clean sheets on the spin, Chelsea are finding form defensively, and we think Frank Lampard’s charges should have enough quality to force a win at Turf Moor. The Blues won five of their last six meetings with the Clarets, and another triumph looks on here.
Bournemouth vs Derby
FST Predicts: 1-0 Bournemouth
Title chasing Bournemouth have been strong at the Vitality Stadium this term, winning three of their first four Championship tussles there since the summer, and though the Cherries look capable of harnessing home advantage again this weekend, any margin of victory is likely to be slim.
Derby conceded exactly one goal in each of their last four league outings, and Bournemouth might have to be content with a single effort en-route to three points on Saturday.
Barnsley vs Watford
FST Predicts: 1-1 Draw
With just one win from four matches, Watford have found life on the road tough this season, and the promotion hopefuls could drop more points against a tough to conquer Barnsley team this weekend.
The Tykes – who lost just once at Oakwell this term – are unbeaten in four games overall, and we think Valérien Ismaël’s side can take a share of the spoils against a Hornets outfit that drew 1-1 in each of their last two assignments.
Middlesbrough vs Nottingham Forest
FST Predicts: 1-1 Draw
Nottingham Forest – who finished level at 1-1 in each of their last three matches – are locked in a frustrating drawing streak ahead of their trip to play Boro on Saturday, and another stalemate looks likely at the Riverside.
Middlesbrough and Forest took a point each in both of their Championship meetings last term, and this season, the hosts have drawn half of the league games they’ve contested overall. Expect these well-matched teams to cancel each other out again.
Swansea City vs Blackburn Rovers
FST Predicts: 2-1 Swansea City
3rd placed Swansea have lost just once in eight Championship fixtures this season, and fresh from a confidence-building 2-0 win against Stoke City in Wales, another victory looks possible against Blackburn.
Rovers are on the slide following a run of three defeats in four, and their 4-2 reverse at home to Reading last time out is certain to have left them rattled. Swansea scored exactly twice in each of their last three Championship wins, and another brace should allow them to claim three points at the Liberty Stadium.
Preston North End vs Birmingham City
FST Predicts: 0-0 Draw
With a total of just 10 goals scored in their eight games so far, Birmingham City’s matches have seen less action than any other team’s fixtures so far this term, and the Blues meeting with Preston has all the makings of another low-key contest.
North End failed to register in 100% of their five home assignments in all competitions this term, while City were unable to score in three of their most recent four skirmishes. A scoreless draw looks the likeliest outcome when these toothless teams face off a Deepdale.
