RANGERS face another tricky road trip at revitalised Motherwell today but they’ve saved their best performances for these fixtures since Michael Beale took charge.
Performances have been a bit laboured at Ibrox of late but the same can’t be said for away games in the Premiership.
Trips to the Tony Macaroni, Tynecastle and Easter Road had the potential to end slim hopes of a title comeback but Gers eased to wins by a three-goal margin on each occasion.
So it’s hard to see them slipping up at Fir Park, even though Well have picked up three wins and a draw since Stuart Kettlewell replaced Stevie Hammell as manager.
The Steelmen were a thorn in Rangers’ side last term with two Ibrox draws but they haven’t won at home in this fixture since a memorable 3-0 play-off triumph way back in 2015.
That’s why McBookie make Well 7/1 outsiders with Gers as short as 4/11 for another victory.
Antonio Colak looks to be Beale’s main man up front again and delivered for me when I tipped him for a goal at Easter Road.
The Croatian is 11/10 at BetVictor for another strike at Fir Park and that looks good value on recent form.
Backing Rangers at -6 in the corner handicap paid off last weekend in the Cup against Raith as they racked up 18.
They are unlikely to win as many against Well but I still fancy them at -3 in that handicap today at 29/20 with Unibet.
Beale’s side have done well to keep pace with Celtic since the World Cup break, although they haven’t managed to eat into the nine-point lead.
That’s because the Hoops have been relentless, with last week’s 3-0 Cup win at Tynecastle making it 26 victories from their last 27 domestic matches. Hibs are the visitors to Celtic Park today and Lee Johnson’s side were battered 6-1 when they came calling back in October.
Their form has improved since then, with that 4-1 loss to Rangers their only defeat in the last six matches.
It will be interesting to see how Johnson approaches this one with Hibs paying a price for being far too open last time out at Parkhead.
I can seem them being more cautious and that makes Celtic corners a good option. Backing the Hoops at -4 in the handicap pays 5/6 at Bet365 while Unibet price over 8.5 Celtic corners at 11/8.
It’s another big day at the bottom of the table with Dundee United at home to another of Jim Goodwin’s old teams as St Mirren come calling.
Aberdeen haunted Goodwin with a 3-1 win at Tannadice in his first game as United boss but Saints have been poor on the road this term.
I can see it being tight and McBookie price a one-goal winning margin for either side at 5/4.
Kilmarnock’s home form is keeping them above United and they host St Johnstone this afternoon. It looks like another tense game and I’m going for the half-time draw at evens with Betfred.
Ross County are only above Killie on goal difference but will fancy their chances today against a Livi side in poor form. I like BTTS here and it pays evens at McBookie.
Hearts were poor last weekend in their Cup battering by Celtic and have a lot of key players out injured. They head to an Aberdeen side who have picked up some form and I fancy maverick striker Duk for a goal at 7/4 (Bet365).
