ROSS COUNTY have got off to a decent start to the season and can ease through to the next round of the Viaplay Cup when they go to Airdrie.
Malky Mackay’s men gave Celtic a real run for their money on the opening day of the season and although they eventually lost 4-2, they could genuinely claim to have been unlucky not to take a point back to the Highlands.
The Staggies followed that up with a bloodless win over St Johnston which could and should have been more emphatic and they also got through their Viaplay Cup group stages.
County seem to have kicked on from that dramatic escape from almost certain relegation in the play-off against Partick Thistle and have strengthened in the summer.
Additionally, the likes of Simon Murray and Jordan White are playing well and are a potent attacking threat.
Airdrie have also looked decent since they came up to the Championship, but this is a bigger test for their young side and County can win at 11/10, which has been slashed during the week.
QUEEN’S PARK beat Arbroath last week at Lesser Hampden and curiously face them again on Saturday at Gayfield.
And the Spiders can complete a double at 21/20.
On Loan Bayern Munich kid Barry Hepburn and former Queen of the South hitman Ruari Paton teamed up last week to sink Dick Campbell’s men and there is every indication the former
amateurs could have another really good campaign this season after last term’s narrow miss on promotion to the Premiership.
Arbroath’s former claim to fame was Gayfield being a fortress, but they only secured two league wins last season and a thumping 4-0 loss to Dundee United on the opening day of the season rather disproves that theory anymore.
And Robin Veldman’s side can win again.
PETERHEAD have sneaked under the radar in League Two but have actually started their season very well and they can win at Hamilton against another side who were relegated from League One last season, Clyde.
The Blue Toon had a nightmare season last term and sunk without trace, but under joint player-managers Jordon Brown and Ryan Strachan they have been transformed.
They impressively hammered East Fife 3-0 in Methil in the opening day and scored five goals in midweek against Aberdeen’s kids in the Challenge Cup.
The Bully Wee seem to be a work in progress to put it kindly and were well beaten at home last week by Bonnyrigg Rose.
The 29/20 for a Peterhead win looks a decent price here.
