KevMac previews this weekend’s best bets in the Scottish Premiership card where there’s a must-win match for both sides at Pittodrie.
Aberdeen v Celtic
WE’RE only seven games into the Premiership season but tomorrow’s Pittodrie clash between Aberdeen and Celtic is massive for both managers.
Early optimism surrounded Stephen Glass and Ange Postecoglou as punters warmed to their style of play but results have since taken a nosedive.
The Dons have gone eight games without a win, including a League Cup loss to Raith, while Celtic’s only victory in their last five matches came against Rovers in the same competition.
So they both desperately need a victory tomorrow to spark their league campaign back into life and it bodes well for an open and entertaining game.
Under Derek McInnes, Aberdeen were far too negative in games against the Hoops but Glass has been more forward thinking since taking charge. And he will realise the best way to get at this Hoops side is to have a go against them.
Both teams to score has come up in nine of Aberdeen’s games this season and eight of Celtic’s.
It also landed in both Pittodrie meetings last term, with a 3-3 thriller followed by a 1-1 stalemate, so it looks a good choice here at 21/20 with Mansionbet.
The Parkhead side have netted just twice in their three away league games but are boosted by the return of Kyogo Furuhashi.
He makes a huge difference so I fancy over 2.5 goals tomorrow at 10/11 with McBookie.
Rangers v Hibernian
There’s another huge game tomorrow as Hibs bid to knock Rangers off the summit at Ibrox. The Hibees have made a flying start, with their only defeat coming to Rijeka in Europe, and Gers head into the game off the back of a gruelling continental match.
So Jack Ross’ side may never have a better chance of winning at Ibrox but they remain outsiders at a best 8/1 with Bet365 while Gers are 4/11 favourites (Unibet).
Both Ibrox meetings were close last term, with Rangers winning 1-0 and 2-1, so a one-goal winning margin for either side may pay off at 9/5 with McBookie.
Clashes between the sides have been pretty fiery in recent years, with Ryan Porteous usually good value for a card.
He’s 5/4 with McBookie to fall foul of the ref in this one and that looks good value.
Hearts v Motherwell
Hearts can jump above their city rivals and the champions for 24 hours at least with a Tynecastle win over Motherwell today.
But the Steelmen are one of the Premiership’s form sides so it won’t be easy.
Well have netted in their last five matches so I fancy both teams to score here at 11/10 (Unibet).
Dundee Utd v Ross County
That bet also appeals as Ross County head to Tannadice looking for their first league win of the season.
The Staggies’ only blank in their last five games came at Parkhead and BTTS pays 11/10 with Mansionbet for this one.
St Johnstone v Dundee
Dundee sit bottom of the table ahead of a Tayside derby with St Johnstone and poor finishing is the main reason for that.
But they can’t keep missing the target forever so I’m going for over 2.5 goals today in Perth at 19/13 with SBK.
Livingston v St Mirren
Goals could be at a premium when Livingston host St Mirren and I’m betting against both teams to score at the Tony Macaroni.
That pays 17/20 with BetVictor.
