DRAMA seems to be a constant companion for Leigh Griffiths and he will take centre stage once more when Rangers visit Dens today.
The on-loan Celtic striker hit the headlines for the wrong reasons again in midweek as he kicked a flare back into the away crowd as Dundee crashed out of the League Cup to St Johnstone.
The Saints fans were giving him pelters throughout the game and he will get an even more hostile welcome from the travelling Gers support this afternoon.
They still haven’t forgotten Griffiths tying a Celtic scarf to the Ibrox posts in his Hoops heyday and it would be a bitter twist for Rangers fans if his first Dundee goal came against them today.
You can get odds of 9/2 on Griffiths for anytime scorer but backing him for a card might be a wiser investment.
The bet failed to land for me in the Dundee derby but pays 9/4 with William Hill today and could come up in what promises to be a fiery game.
Steven Gerrard’s side haven’t been blowing teams away this season and the Dark Blues have struggled for goals so under 2.5 strikes also looks decent value at 25/19 with SBK.
Hearts head into the weekend just a point behind Gers at the top and are unbeaten in their six Premiership games.
They host Livingston today and are McBookie’s 4/7 favourites. Liam Boyce has been a goal machine for the Jambos so far, netting eight times already.
That makes the Northern Irish hitman decent value for a goal today at 13/8 with Paddy Power.
Livi’s last four games have all seen under 2.5 goals so it could pay to back a repeat here, although the odds aren’t great at a best 20/27 with Mansionbet. In form Motherwell take on Ross County in today’s other top-flight game and I fancy a few goals.
I flagged up Well as a decent handicap option at Ibrox last weekend and the Steelmen shocked the champions by sealing a 1-1 draw.
That made it four unbeaten for Graham Alexander’s men but County also impressed last week by drawing 2-2 with Hearts.
So both teams to score looks the shout here and it’s a best 11/10 at Mansionbet.
Dundee United are flying after a derby win but could come back to earth with a bump at Celtic Park tomorrow. The Hoops have been electric at home in the league and are 13/10 at McBookie to win both halves.
My 14/1 scorer tip for Josip Juranovic failed to land last week but he’s still 7/1 for a goal at Unibet tomorrow and that’s good value for a Celtic penalty taker.
Aberdeen and St Mirren both desperately need a win so their Paisley clash will almost inevitably end in a draw that pays 9/4 at Unibet.
Tomorrow’s other game sees Hibs host St Johnstone and I fancy the home team to avenge their cup final loss at 10/11 with BoyleSports.
