Scottish Football expert Mark Walker shares his thoughts on the best bets in the SPFL this weekend.
Alloa v Dumbarton
ALLOA have blown hot and cold this season, but Barry Ferguson’s side should have too much for a freefalling Dumbarton at the Indodrill on Saturday.
The Wasps have produced some great displays this season when they’ve beaten Falkirk and Airdrie at home and won away at Montrose.
They do throw in the odd stinker too though and threw away a two-goal lead last week when they sat too deep at home to Montrose.
But they are unbeaten in four in League One and seem to be heading the right way under Ferguson and will be expected to keep up their promotion charge in an open league against Dumbarton.
Stevie Farrell’s side have now gone seven games without a win and were easily beaten at home last week by Falkirk. They’ve also lost their last three games on their travels and evens for an Alloa win looks a good price.
Dunfermline v Ayr Utd
DUNFERMLINE got a new manager bounce under John Hughes last week with a shock win at Inverness in his first game in charge and he can make it back-to-back victories by defeating struggling Ayr United at East End Park this week at 11/10.
Ayr were hammered 4-0 by a rampant Partick Thistle last week and the Honest Men have major problems in defence in particular where they never looked comfortable against the Jags.
Dunfermline may still be bottom of the Championship, but they gave themselves a real shot in the arm last week with a win in the Highlands.
It’s been well documented they are seriously underachieving with the squad they have and they face an Ayr side who have not won for five games and look low in confidence. They’ve also only won two games away all season and they were both at Hamilton in the league and League Cup.
Annan Athletic v Albion Rovers
ALBION ROVERS look a value bet to plunder all three points at Annan Atheltic and maintain their decent recent run.
The Coatbridge side have turned the corner with a hugely impressive 4-0 win at Edinburgh City in between wins against Elgin City and in-form Stirling Albion.
They face an Annan side who have won just one of their last six League Two games and that was at home against bottom side Cowdenbeath.
And the 11/5 for an away win could represent a bit of value.
