LAST week Hamilton were too big a price too beat Kilmarnock – but bookies haven’t learned their lesson.
Accies were as big as 9-2 at home to the Rugby Park men and that was all wrong.
Even with 10 men Brian Rice’s men won 2-0 and as luck would have it the sides meet again today in the Betfred Cup.
This time Killie have home advantage but should Accies be as big as 5-1 with William Hill?
It’s as if compilers have forgotten Steve Clarke’s gone and been replaced by Italian Angelo Alessio who has loads to prove.
He started with a Europa League loss to Connah’s Quay, a narrow defeat to Rangers and then crashing to Accies.
I don’t think anyone will back Killie at odds of around 1-2 and for me the best bets are Hamilton not to lose at 29-20 at McBookie and 10-3 draw no bet with William Hill.
My old Firm experiment has yielded a profit of 6.8 points over the first two weekends but both are extremely short to win ties against Dunfermline and East Fife respectively. A wins double pays no more than 1-6 at Marathonbet and I’m not having that.
Celtic will be hurting after their Cluj collapse while Rangers are on a high after a super start to the season so every chance both will win with plenty to spare. I’m risking 2pts on the -2 handicap double at 2-1 with Sky Bet.
Neil Lennon’s bound to make many changes so check team news before having any more bets. Steven Gerrard’s been rotating strikers and it’s Jermain Defoe’s turn so back last weekend’s hat-trick hero to net first at 12-5 with McBookie.
In the other ties I like Ross County to win at Partick at 7-5 with bet365 and there should be goals at Hibs v Morton.
Take your pick between both to score at evens with Ladbrokes or over 3.5 match goals at 15-8 at betfair.
There are four League One games and Falkirk look almost a sure thing at home to Montrose.
The Bairns are on the march after last week’s 6-0 defeat of Dumbarton and will be looking for another convincing win.
Falkirk are 3-10 at Marathonbet and worth backing -1 at 5-6 with betfair. I also like Falkirk and over 2.5 match goals at 8-11 with Betway.
Leaders Raith are evens at Stranraer but last season both meetings at Stair Park were score draws.
Promoted Peterhead have started with two draws but should pick up a first win at home to basement boys Dumbarton. The Blue Toon are evens at Marathonbet.
I was spot on with my Albion Rovers v Cove prediction last week but despite drawing the Highlanders still managed to score four.
That’s nine in two games and they should blow away old play-off foes Cowdenbeath. Cove will be on loads of accas at 2-5 with McBookie and should cover the -1 handicap at 6-5 with Sky Bet.
Mitch Megginson has won for me over the first two weekends and the prolific striker is 5-6 at McBookie to net again.
Edinburgh look good at 4-6 at home to pointless Stirling and Albion Rovers look to continue their improved form at Annan. They look big at 15-4 with bet365 so consider them at 10-3 draw no bet – there should also be goals at both ends.
Recommended Bets
- Celtic/Rangers -2 double
- Defoe to score first
- Hibs v Morton btts
- Ross County
- Falkirk & over 2.5 goals
- Peterhead
- Albion Rovers draw no bet
- Cove Rangers -1
