The wait is finally over for football fans as Saturday brings the much anticipated return of league football in Scotland and England. My main focus on Saturday will always be on the Scottish matches and there are a number of games I like the look of.
Hibs should take care of a St Mirren side who have had a shambolic pre season and Betfred cup campaign. Ross County I feel will edge out Hamilton in Dingwall and Partick Thistle will be looking to make a winning stat against an Alloa side who look certain for the drop this season.
I’ll be at Celtic Part tomorrow watching through my hands as we look to ruin Celtics flag unfurling – good luck with your bets and here’s to a profitable season
Alloa Athletic vs Partick Thistle (3pm)
Last season can only be described as a disaster for Thistle boss Gary Caldwell after only securing safety in the reaming few games of the season when they should have been pushing for promotion.
I can’t imagine them being sucked into another relegation battle and they should be much more reliable this season, aided by the addition of Kenny Miller who’s already scored two this season and after a good Betfred cup, their will be an air of optimism about what the new season will bring.
They travel to play an Alloa side who outside Kilmarnock where the biggest overachieving club in Scotland last season. For them to stay in the league given their small budget, fan base and the fact they are part time was an incredible achievement.
It was no surprise that Jim Goodwin had attracted admirers from the bigger clubs and his departure to St Mirren was a huge blow for the wasps. Peter Grant has taken over and has a big job on his hands and I just feel Thistle will edge this, with the experience they have right through the spine of their team.
Recommended Bet:
- Partick Thistle
