Meanwhile, here is McBookie‘s Damian Walker with his thoughts for this weekend.
Damian writes: “A few painful blows to my head last weekend with goals for two of the three selections and a thumping 3-0 win for my third team, Falkirk, but sadly no winning first scorer.
“And you’d be forgiven for thinking those setbacks have taken their toll on my cognitive ability as this week’s headline tip is … Albion Rovers.
“That’s right, Albion Rovers, the League Two side that have won just one of their 21 league games. However, the timing looks just right for being onside with the Wee Rovers.
“A string of new recruits have arrived at the Cliftonhill in the January window and they’ve had home draws with Annan Athletic and Cowdenbeath and almost pulled off an away win at Queen’s Park. They also took the lead away to Edinburgh City last Saturday.
“So the 5-1 on offer about Rovers looks on the big side but when you consider who the visitors are on Saturday it looks even bigger. Elgin are the team in question and for the rest of the season – when the price is right – I will be taking them on.
“They have lost four of their last five games but crucially lost the services of prolific striker Shane Sutherland to Peterhead right at the end of the window.
“Sutherland scored 34 goals from just 50 games for Elgin and his 11 league goals for them this season is seven more than any other Elgin player. It is hard to see where the Elgin goals are going to come from and the 1-2 about them is miles too short.
“Finding an Albion Rovers first goalscorer to take them on with looks a fairly straightforward exercise. During the window they signed on loan from Motherwell striker George Newell who made an immediate impact with the opening goal away to title-chasing Edinburgh City.
“Newell is a son of former Blackburn Rovers striker Mike and is 8-1 with McBookie to score the opener. Note there is an 8.30am pitch inspection.
“The second selection is in the Championship and I am sticking with Falkirk, who are set for a big end to the season with a much-improved squad. The Bairns still prop up the table but I don’t expect them to finish the campaign there.
“On Saturday they travel to face third-bottom Alloa and are 2-1 outsiders for the game with the Wasps at 11-8.
“I’d have this the other way around and with Falkirk even shorter as bookies once again haven’t taken account of the January business they have done and recent form.
“Zak Rudden failed to score in last weekend’s easy win but is easily their leading goalscorer this season and is 7-2 with McBookie to score the first goal.
“I’m leaving the Scottish Cup alone this weekend as the third selection is in League One where Forfar are somehow 9-5 outsiders for their home game with Airdrie who are 7-5 favourites.
“Forfar are the form team in League One and sit six points ahead of Airdrie in the table and also have home advantage so how they can be outsiders is beyond me.
“Last weekend I plumped for John Baird for the first goal and sadly he scored the second. Hopefully I’ll have some better luck this Saturday. Baird is 9-2 with McBookie to be the game’s first goalscorer.
“Can you find a winner!”
