North of the border, Hibernian and Dundee United meet again in their Scottish cup replay after drawing 2-2 at Tannadice 9 days ago. Should be another cracking game with goals expected.
IT’s the first busy Tuesday card of the year and the English league fixtures. The Championship, League One and Two dominate what looks a tricky set of games for punters.
There’s also English League cup action with the Semifinal 2nd Leg between Aston Villa and Leicester, which personally I feel is best left alone.
Hibernian vs Dundee United (7.45pm)
I tipped over 2.5 goals in the first game and it didn’t disappoint as the sides fought out a 2-2 draw. Hibs had more of the play but as so often has been the case this season, defensive lapses have seen them suffer as United scored from really their only two clear cut chances.
I’ve been really ranting on all season about how poor defensively Hibs have been and with both Porteous and Naismith out long term injured, I was stunned they kept a clean sheet at Motherwell on Saturday.
I say I was stunned as they have conceded in 22 of their 27 matches in all competition this season and have kept just 2 clean sheets in 12 home matches.
Ross County, Livingston, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Hearts have ALL found the net twice in their visit to Easter Road this season and it’s becoming a real problem for Jack Ross’s side.
Tonight all eyes again will be on United ‘s 26 goal man Lawrence Shankland, he just needs a glimpse of goal and he produces the goods.
Attacking wise though Hibs are in terrific shape, Martin Boyle has been excellent recently, throw in Kamberi, Doige and Allen and you have to fancy them to progress. I just can’t see them keeping a clean sheet though and that makes over 2.5 goals look really appealing.
Hibs vs Dundee United Tips:
- Over 2.5 match goals
- 3/4 (Marathonbet)
