IT’S turning out to be a fascinating end to the season in the Scottish championship as 5 clubs fight it out to remain in the league. Just 5 points separate Alloa in 7th and bottom side Partick Thistle and there will be plenty of twists and turn still to come.
I’m focusing on the match between two clubs fully involved in the relegation fight as Falkirk welcome Greenock Morton in a match neither side can afford to lose .
Falkirk vs Greenock Morton (KO 3pm)
For the size of club Falkirk are and the fanbase they have, its criminal they are even in this position, but the fact is they are and over the course of the season have been a massive disappointment.
The Falkirk board recognise how crucial this game is and how disastrous relegation to Division one would be so to aid the teams cause they have slashed admission prices and a crwd of over 6000 is expected, a crowd that would put a ot of Premeriship cluns to shame.
This match also has added spice with Bainrs boss Ray McKinnon facing his former club after controversially walking out on the Greenock side earlier in the season
In terms of form, Falkirk secured a massive three points last week away to local rivals Dunfermline, that win ensured they stayed above basement side Partick Thislte and sets them up nicely for todays 6 pointer. They’ve only lost 2 of their last 14 matches which is stark contrast to Morton who have only won one of their last 14.
The Cappielow faithful are running out of patience with manager Jonatan Johansson and defeat today would could leave them occupying the relegation play off spot.
Most of their good work is done at home and without an away win 7 and completely out of form coming into this, its hard not to fancy Falkirk to collect three points in front off a packed stadium and the importance of this game is signified further for the Bairns as they play Dundee United and Ross County in their final 2 games. Happy to take them at a shade of odds against this struggling Morton side
