Wolfsburg v Bochum
Wolfsburg kick off their Bundesliga campaign on Saturday with former Holland captain Mark van Bommel having succeeded Oliver Glasner as head coach.
The Wolves finished fourth last season to qualify for the Champions League and have kept their squad intact, including top scorer Wout Weghorst who bagged 20 league goals.
He is joined up top by former Man City youngster Lukas Nmecha and the hosts can make a winning start at home to newly-promoted Bochum.
Thomas Reis’ side took the second-tier title last term, sealing a return to the top flight for the first time in 12 years, but face heading home empty-handed after a tough start against a quality side.
Wolfsburg were tight at on their own pitch – keeping a clean sheet in nine of their 17 outings – and a home win and under 4.5 goals should bring profit.
Heracles v PSV
PSV begin their bid for a first Eredivisie title in three years with a trip to face Heracles on Saturday.
The visitors have already hit the ground running this season with five straight wins, thrashing Galatasaray and Midtjylland in Champions League qualifiers and lifting the Dutch Super Cup with a 4-0 rout of Ajax.
PSV have a formidable record against Heracles, winning seven of the past eight league meetings, and their early momentum can carry them past the side that finished 28 points beneath them in ninth last term.
Benfica v Arouca
Benfica are aiming to extend their perfect start to the season ahead of their midweek Champions League play-off first leg with PSV.
The Lisbon giants completed a 4-0 aggregate success over Spartak Moscow in midweek and launched their domestic campaign with a 2-1 victory at Moreirense last Saturday.
Now they welcome new boys Arouca, whose first game back in the top tier ended in a sobering 2-0 home loss to Estoril.
A long season awaits the visitors and Benfica should ease to victory here with a bit to spare.
