THE Bundesliga title race is heating up nicely after the winter break and the top two both face crucial away games this afternoon.
Defending champs Bayern Munich, six points adrift in the second place, visit Bayer Leverkusen who banked their first win under new boss Peter Bosz with a 3-0 stroll at Wolfsburg last weekend.
However, they face a torrid test against a Munich side who’ve shaken off their early-season struggles under Niko Kovac and are on a seven-match winning streak, with six of those victories seeing over 2.5 goals.
Leverkusen have lost four of their nine home games this season and Bayern can make their superior class count against a team they’ve beaten four times in a row. Back Bayern and over 1.5 goals at 4-5 with Ladbrokes.
Table-toppers Borussia Dortmund won’t have it easy when they head to face Frankfurt Eintracht where they’ve picked up just one point in the last four league visits.
Goals looks the order of the day here – eight of Eintracht’s nine home games have gone over 2.5 as have seven of nine for Dortmund and five of six head-to-heads. Same again pays 8-15 at bet365.
Complete the treble in Ligue 1 where Rennes host third-bottom Amiens. The visitors have lost four on the spin and mustered one goal in five games while Rennes are unbeaten in six at home in all competitions, winning four and keeping four clean sheets.
Amiens have scored just six times in 11 away outings – the joint worst record in the league – and I like Rennes to win with under 3.5 match goals at 11-10 with Ladbrokes.
Another game that’s caught my eye is the Basque derby in La Liga between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. This is usually a fiery affair and the last six meetings have seen 11, 11, 3, 9, 6 and 13 cards.
So the over 8.5 cards offered at 37-20 at 888Sport is worth a shot, having landed in four of six.
