IT’S been a while since Newcastle United were as short as 2/5 to win a match in the top flight but Eddie Howe’s side are flying and justifiably overhwelming favourites to beat Leeds United tonight.
The Magpies returned to Premier League action with a convincing 3-0 win at Leicester City to make it six league wins in a row and just one defeat in their 16 games so far – only top-of-the-table Arsenal can match that.
Frank Lampard could be in deeper trouble by 5pm tonight. The last thing the Everton manager needs is a trip to the Etihad where they’ve failed to on their last 11 visits (D4 L7). It’s now just one win in nine for the Toffees who are on the cusp of the relegation zone.
Man City are averaging 3.75 goals per game at home and we all know just how incredible Erling Haaland has been since his summer arrival. The Norwegian is just 4/11 to score and 6/4 to net two or more.
Pair a Newcastle win with Man City to score three or more for an 11/10 double.
At the bottom of the table Southampton are bang in trouble. Four defeats in a row sees them rooted to the bottom and they face another tough encounter at in-form Fulham this afternoon. The Cottagers scored an impressive 3-0 win at Crystal Palace last weekend which took them in to the top half of the table and in Aleksander Mitrovic have the highest scorer in England in 2022.
The Serbian striker is carrying a foot injury but will apparently play through the pain in order to try to add to his 31 goals in 35 league games this year. He’s 11/10 to finish with a goal but the even money of Fulham to win looks one of the bets of the day.
The early kick-off features Wolves and Man Utd in a fixture that seldom catches alight. Six of the last seven have seen less that two goals and the last eight meetings have seen just nine goals scored. Under 2.5 goals at 10/11 looks the best option.
In the evening Arsenal will be in for a stern test at Brighton. The Seagulls continue to punch above their weight this season and occupy seventh in the table but they’ve actually picked up more points away from home that at the Amex.
If the Gunners are to be serious title contenders they need to be winning games like this. 21/20 will tempt a lot of punters this Brighton side deserve respect so it’s probably best to leave this one alone.
