THINGS couldn’t be much tighter at the top of the Premier League with just two point separating the top six in the table.
It’s Liverpool who have the chance to to put early pressure on the teams around them with a lunchtime visit to Watford.
Premier League winner Claudio Ranieri takes charge of the Hornets for th first time and he’s got a good home record against the Reds, winning four of five but 15th place Watford aren’t of the same calibre as the squads Italian’s previously managed at Chelsea and Leicester City.
The Reds have been banging them in of late, scoring 22 in their last seven and prior to last season’s shock 3-0 loss at Vicarage Road they’d scored 15 without reply in this fixture. Jurgen Klopp’s men face a tough trip to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday so the boss may have one eye on that one should Liverpool establish a comfortable lead. At 1/3 Liverpool are too short to back, but 6/5 to score three or more once more appeals against a side that’s yet to keep a clean sheet.
Match of the Day is at the King Power where Leicester City welcome Man Utd. The Foxes have struggled to get going this season with just two wins from seven and will be desperate to kick-start their season with a win. Despite it feeling like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is only ever one match away from a crisis the Red Devils are on a record run of 29 games unbeaten away from home so no surprise to see them priced up as favourites at just over even money.
The Vardy x Ronaldo factor means there should be goals in this one and Over 2.5 goals pays 4/6 while BTTS is less attractive at 4/7.
Brentford have made an excellent start to life in the top flight but Chelsea will present a tough test in the early evening kick-off. The Blues got back on track with a 3-1 win over Southampton after three games without a win and can maintain their slim lead at the summit with another win. Back them at 10/11 to win and score 2+ on a Bet365 BetBuilder.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa (6/5) can extend their good home form with a win over Wolves and Man City can look forward to another comfortable afternoon at home to Burnley. Incredibly, Pep Guardiola’s men have won 5-0 on the last four visits by Burnley to the Etihad and they’re a tasty 14/1 to do so yet again.
In Scotland Celtic corners have been good for us so far this season. The Hoops won a rare away game last time out at Pittodrie and face a tough test at in-form Motherwell this afternoon. Well have the lowest home corner count in the league, managing just 1.5 per game on average, while Celtic rack up 6.75 on the road so the 1.850 (just over 4/5) on Celtic -3.0 in the Asian Handicap looks value.
In League One Cove Rangers look overpriced at 5/6 to win at East Fife who have lost their last five on the bounce and prop up the table. Cove have developed a knack of scoring late goals and are joint top scorers in the division, versus East Fife who have the worst defensive record, conceding 23 and two or more in seven of nine. That makes the 5/6 on Cove to score two or more Saturday’s best bet.
