On paper Rangers visit to Ross County should be a relatively comfortable win, after all the Highlanders have never beaten the Glasgow giants.
Factor in that Rangers have scored 17 in their last four meetings with County and this looks like three points in the bag. But the Gers may not have things all their own way in the lunchtime kick-off in Dingwall.
Giovanni Van Bronckhurst’s appointment at Ibrox looks a timely one. The Dutchman has shored things up at the back, conceding just two goals in his nine league games in charge and continuing their unbeaten league run which now extends to 20 matches.
But County, despite sitting 3rd bottom boast the fourth highest goals tally in the Premiership so could give Rangers, who are still without a few star names, a bloody nose. They’re 4/5 to get on the scoresheet, something they’ve managed in 17 of 22 in the league and in all but one of their home matches.
Bookies don’t look keen to take bets on Celtic corners any more but there could still be value at Parkhead today. Celtic have ammassed 100 corners in their 10 home matches and should expect the lion’s share of possession against Dundee United. That makes the 4/5 on Over 8.5 corners reasonably attractive.
Alternatively you can get even money on there being two first half goals at Celtic Park. The Hoops are usually quick out the traps and have scored two first half goals in each of their last four matches.
At Pittodrie Aberdeen fans will be expecting a home win after their side went down 1-0 to St Mirren in midweek. The Dons have been significantly better on their home turf than away this season and up against a St Johnstone side who are winless in 10 league matches (D1 L9) they should deliver at 13/20.
Derek McInnes’ Kilmarnock have been popular with punters all week ahead of the visit of 2nd placed Inverness to Rugby Park. The former Aberdeen boss has bolstered his squad with the addition of Ash Taylor and Kyle Lafferty who notched 13 goals for Killie last season.
You can still get a generous looking 21/20 on the home win against a Caley side that have won two of their last 10 in all competitions.
Annan Atheltic in League Two also look well-priced at evens to win at home against Stirling Albion. Peter Murphy side are the form team in the division and have lost just once in their last 11 league games. Stirling on the otherhand look to have lost their way and have recorded just one league win in 12. If this goes to form then the 1/1 odds will look very big at 4.45pm.
Elsewehere, the League One and Two leaders, Cove Rangers (at Dumbarton) and Kelty Hearts (at home to Stranraer) should make for a popular 6/5 lower league Double.
It’s quarter-final time at the Africa Cup of Nations and the pick of today’s games sees hosts Cameroon take on Gambia.
The hosts have been free-scoring but Gambia’s march to the last eight has been off the back of a string of 1-0 victories. They’ve conceded just once in the whole tournament and that’s why under 2.5 goals is as short as 1/2 today.
That’s poor value but the half-time draw is better at 21/20 with SportNation.
Tunisia face Burkino Faso in today’s other game and at BTTS at 6/4 (SBK) looks value as the minnows have scored in every game so far.
