No-one seems to want to win the race for fourth place in the Premier League and there could be more twists and turns today.
Arsenal host Man Utd at lunchtime and a win for the Gunners could all but kill-off the Red Devils’ chances of nicking a Champions League spot for next season.
Neither side have been in good form but Arsenal’s 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday was the shot in the arm they needed after three successive defeats. United’s second mauling at the hands of Liverpool summed up their season although there could be some light at the end of the tunnel with the announcement this week of Erik ten Hag’s arrival in time for next season.
There’s no telling which version of Arsenal nor Man Utd will turn up at the Emirates so we’ll focus on goals in this one. It looks like Cristiano Ronaldo will return to the United set-up so they’ll carry more of a goal threat, with that in mind the Over 2.5 line looks worth backing at 4/5 with SBK. It’s even money if also add in BTTS.
Spurs are the team currently in possession of that fourth spot and they could take advantage of any dropped points at the Emirates but a trip to the Brentford Community Stadium is as hard as it comes at the moment. Only Liverpool have won more points than Brentford in their last six matches.
Christian Eriksen has inspired the Bees’ best form of the season which has catapulted them to the relative safety of 12th place in the table.
Spurs demonstrated a fragile mentality once again last weekend when they lost at home to Brighton after a run of six wins in seven in the league. Much like Arsenal and Man Utd this Tottenham side are so unpredictable, they could easily romp to a three or goal win here but equally they could come unstuck again against in-form opponents.
You could be backing Spurs at odds-on in which case, Brentford look a bit of value at 10/3. You can also cover the draw at 5/6 or back the Bees in the Draw No Bet market at 2/1.
Elsewhere in the Premier League Steven Gerrard and Brendan Rodgers renew old rivalries and Aston Villa fans will be looking nervously over their shoulders following four straight defeats. Jamie Vardy could return for the Foxes and if he does the 9/5 available on the Leicester City win will be popular.
Man City should cement their position at the top of the table with a comfortable afternoon against Watford. City have scored a whopping 42 in their last 10 against the Hornets so it should be a case of how many for Pep’s men. Over 3.5 City goals pays 6/4.
In the Championship Bournemouth 13/10 could take advantage of Fulham‘s midweek promotion celebrations. The Cottagers wrapped their return to the top flight on Tuesday and might lack the motivation to overcome a Cherries side that in a promising position to join Fulham in being automatically promoted.
It could be a day of celebration for Cove Rangers in Scottish League One where a win would secure their place in the second tier of Scottish football for the first time in their history. The Aberdeenshire side only need a point to wrap up the title but they should do it in style against second bottom Dumbarton. At just 4/11 to claim the three points add in Over 1.5 Cove goals in a BetBuilder to take it to a more backable 4/6.
