This time next week we’ll be gearing up for the big kick-off in Qatar but before that teams win be desperate to finish the section of season on a positive note.
Man City can go top of the table with a win in the early kick-off at home to Brentford, ahead of Arsenal’s match against Wolves this evening.
The champions have 16 players bound for Qatar, but one who won’t be there is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker couldn’t guide his country to the World Cup so he should have time to properly shake off the injury that’s halted his penomenal strike-rate for City. He could however get a start today for Pep Guardiola’s side and that could signal bad news for visitors Brentford.
But the bookies are making him unbackable at just 4/11 to find the net.
The Bees are winless in seven away from home and in their only other match against a team currently in the top eight they were thumped 5-1 by Newcastle. It could be long afternoon for Thomas Frank’s men especially if they concede early. City are just 1/8 to win and even the HT/FT only pays 8/15. For that to land you’d need the home side to score at least once in the first half, however Over 1.5 first goals at 5/6 looks much better value when you consider they’re averaging over four goals per game at home.
Newcastle United are up in to third after four wins on the bounce and will fancy their chances against Chelsea this afternoon. Graham Potter is finding the going tough with the Blues at the moment and it’s now just two wins in seven in all competitions following their midweek defeat at the Etihad in the Carabao Cup.
A trip to the in-form Magpies is the last thing Potter needs. Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten at St James’ Park this season and have scored 10 in their last three Premier League outings on home soil. Take your pick between two goals for the Toon at 11/10 or the home win at 5/4.
In Scotland, Rangers face a potentially tricky trip along the road to Paisley at lunchtime. The Gers are struggling for form at the moment and have won just half of their games on the road in the Premiership.
17 of St Mirren‘s 20 points have been won at home and they’re the only side to beat Celtic in the league this season. Rangers certainly look too short at 2/5 especially with top scorer Antonio Colak missing for the match.
BTTS landed for us in Rangers game at St Johnstone last week and it could be worth backing again at 19/20.
A Gers win would reduce the gap at the top to four points before Celtic take on Ross County at 3pm. The Hoops survived a late scare last weekend but things should be a more straightforward in front of an expectant home crowd.
With Jota back on the wing and the enterprising Haksabanovic in line for a start Celtic should have pently of width, which usually helps towards corners. They hit 11 last Saturday and 10 in midweek at Fir Park. It’s even money that they hit double figures again today. That’s still a tall order so perhaps look to Celtic first half corners where it’s even money for them to hit 5 or more.
Incredibly Celtic have scored inside the forst 16 minutes in eight of their last nine Premiership matches. It’s a great habit to have and Ange Postecoglou’s side are well known to fly out the traps. A goal before 21:00 minutes looks a good option at 5/6.
Hearts‘ home form makes them worth a second look at 19/20 against Livingston. The Jambos’ only defeats at Tynecastle have come at the hands of Celtic and Rangers. Livi continue to punch above their weight but it’s a tough ask for them to put three wins together in this league.
Further down the divisions goals should be in abundance at Dundee v Raith, Morton v Partick Thistle and Stranraer v Stenhousemuir.
