12.05 Sandown – Unibet Extra Place Races Every Day Juvenile Hurdle
Gary Moore tends to run a fairly useful juvenile in this race and, while Moulins Clermont was disappointing when sent off favourite for his British debut, his French form alone makes him a player in this contest.
Selection: Moulins Clermont @ 5/4
12.40 Sandown – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Mares’ Hurdle (Listed)
It might be reasonable to presume Gauloise has been got fit for this trip to Britain on her reappearance.
However, she will need to be on her game straight away against Martello Sky, who has improved in handicaps this season and won at Cheltenham last time off 140.
Selection: Martello Sky @ 15/8
1.15 Sandown – Read Nicky Henderson’s Unibet Blog Handicap Chase
The Racing Post Gold Cup might have been a culture shock for Farinet, but this will not be as he won a soft-ground Listed handicap over course and distance in March. He is most likely just better than this grade.
Selection: Farinet @ 11/8
1.50 Sandown – Unibet Horserace Betting Operator Of The Year Handicap Chase
This race ought to suit Numitor perfectly. He is a slow-striding, bold-jumping grafter so testing ground at Sandown will bring all his best attributes into play.
Gunsight Ridge is owed one after he ran into L’Homme Presse last time, but the hill and the deep ground may be against a horse that does not always find for pressure.
Selection: Numitor @ 9/4
2.25 Sandown – Unibet Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)
Going in on shorties, however exciting they are, is not my game, so I will be checking out how deep the ground gets and possibly playing Jetoile if things get boggy.
Failing that, or if you do not have the benefit of watching the ground churn up first, it is hard to see past Constitution Hill, who was electric here last month.
Selection: Constitution Hill @ 1/3
3.00 Sandown – Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase (series final)
An each-way bet against Aso, who is well handicapped but jumps left and only just stays 3m, is recommended.
Prime Venture is having his sights lowered here, having run well in the last two Welsh Nationals, and can work his way into the frame once again.
Selection: Prime Venture @ 14/1
3.35 Sandown – Unibet Casino Deposit £10 Get £40 Handicap Hurdle
The ground is expected to be really deep by this point and that should work for Navajo Pass, whose career highlight came in the hock-deep mud Haydock can often throw up in midwinter.
He is back to near his last winning mark and can outrun double-figure odds.
Selection: Navajo Pass @ 8/1
