Nicky Henderson saddles an interesting stable debutant in Balkeo but this is a tough assignment against SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE, who was sent off at just 11/2 for the Grade 1 Tolworth at this course last time. A rating of 128 makes him tough to beat.

GUNSIGHT RIDGE was an authoritative winner over this course and distance on heavy ground last time and can make light of a 5lb rise. The form of his second to L’Homme Presse two starts back could not have worked out better and this quicker ground should suit.

Those at the head of the betting are arguably better over further and GLOBAL CITIZEN can upset the likely favourites. This out-and-out two-miler was back to his best when second at Haydock last time and receives 6lb from his main rivals.

L’HOMME PRESSE’S tendency to jump out to his left makes life tougher going this way around but he looked a top notch prospect when sauntering to a ten-length Grade 2 win last time. Pic D’Orhy merits respect but his trainer Paul Nicholls is not in the best form.

2.55 Sandown – Virgin Bet Heroes Handicap Hurdle
THE BRIMMING WATER didn’t stay 3m½f on soft ground at Haydock last time after travelling smoothly but 2m7½f on quicker going should suit. Two starts back he was a good winner over Unexpected Party, who has bolted up since, and a mark of 127 remains workable.

3.30 Sandown – Virgin Bet Masters Handicap Chase
The eye was drawn to LINLEE KING following his staying-on third at Ayr last time after a bad mistake four out cost him his chance. The handicapper has left him on the same rating and he is worth another try at 3m.

4.05 Sandown – Virgin Bet Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
The lightly-raced PEEJAYBEE is improving with every run and probably just bumped into a well-handicapped rival in Inishbiggle previously. He is 2lb higher but remains worth keeping onside on just his second try over an intermediate trip with stamina assured.
