4.20 – Chessington Handicap (5f)
Agent Shiftwell went close eight days ago at Yarmouth and looks sure to be in the mix here before going up 2lb in the ratings but at cramped odds, he’s hard to get behind. Instead, CRIME OF PASSION offers a bit more value. Jamie Osborne’s three-year-old has twice finished second at Bath recently over the 5f trip and races from an unchanged mark today. The filly should be suited by the likely pace on here and can go close at 7/1*.

4.55 – Martin Densham Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes (7f)
Newcomers One Ruler and Thunder Sun are worth consideration but John Gosden’s THIRD KINGDOM shaped with plenty of promise on debut at Newcastle. The winner ran a fine race in the Coventry at Royal Ascot on his next start while the second scored next-time-out at Doncaster and this son of Make Believe could be hard to beat with that experience under his belt now.

5.25 – Esher Novice Stakes (7f)
Having shown good potential in his two starts in France, DERDAS (5/2) enjoyed a pleasing debut for new trainer Owen Burrows when second at Haydock this month. He was conceding race-sharpness to the winner Able Grace and they pulled well clear of everything else. He should build on that now and there might be more to come as he meets decent ground for the first time.

5.55 – Addlestone Handicap (7f)
This is a tough handicap but there might be some value in supporting EPIC ENDEAVOUR at 15/2 for the William Muir team. He’s run well twice on the all-weather either side of what appeared an underwhelming first turf run at Newmarket last month. That race looks strong however and, having since made a pleasing first foray into handicaps when beaten by three-quarters of a length in fourth at Kempton; he can offer more here starting his handicap career on turf from 2lb lower.

6.30 – Ewell Handicap (7f)
Full Intention held off BLAME CULTURE (17/2) to win at Chelmsford 19 days ago but the winner was receiving 12lb from the second that day and now must concede weight. Rated 80 on the AW, Tom Queally’s mount is much lower on turf, having raced just five times on the surface. He was beaten by only a half-length last time and, if producing something similar now, has sound each-way claims. Ryan Moore rides handicap debutant Conscious for Roger Charlton and that one could be upwardly mobile.

7.00 – Young Stayers Handicap (1m6f)
Stag Horn is respected and would be dangerous to allow a soft advantage in front given how he won at Goodwood over this trip on his penultimate start. However, INDIGO LAKE (2/1) beat a well-handicapped rival at Doncaster on his season return/handicap bow last month and the son of Frankel went in the notebook as one to side with next time having finished a luckless second at Haydock since. He’s raised 1lb but, granted a clear run, should be hard to beat.

7.30 – Imber Court Handicap (1m2f)
AGENT BASTERFIELD (15/2) enjoyed a progressive three-year-old campaign last term despite shooting up in the ratings when he routed three rivals by 13-lengths at Brighton (1m4f, good to firm) in late April. He ran fair races afterwards and, notably, ended the term with a solid second back at the seaside venue in August from a mark of 76. This trip is within his range and Andrew Balding’s charge has gone when well fresh in the past.

8.00 – Twickenham Fillies’ Handicap – (1m2f)
Having collared an improving rival in Kipps at Haydock last month with a determined late surge, WALKONBY (7/2) came undone at odds-on next time when tackling 1m4f for the first time in a tactical three-runner contest at Newmarket, with Ryan Moore allowing her to come home in her own time once defeat was confirmed. Mick Channon’s Sixties Icon filly is likely better than that and, now dropped in trip and eased in class with George Bass taking 7lb off, she can quickly get back on an upward curve in attempting to make it five wins from just 10 turf starts.
