As the major season comes to a conclusion, the run in for the Ryder Cup has begun!
With only 6 weeks until the 2021 rendition, it will be interesting to see how the FedEx Cup playoffs conclude and who will make a push for both teams. Not forgetting who will catch the eye of both captain Harrington and captain Stricker for the all-important captain picks!
As for me, my game is now back! Playing the Andalucía Tour Championships last week, I showed great signs of getting back to my best with scores of 67 (-5) and 68 (-4) respectfully to finish 2nd. It showed having had my coach Jamie McConnell in town from the Claude Harmon Performance in Dubai, the lingering doubts from which every golfer suffers. We discussed and resolved any issues, giving me a very good sense of clarity on what ‘I’ need to work on to get ‘my’ game back to where it has been and where it should be! So, after some good concentrated practice on those aspects, it was very satisfying to see the results last week.
Summer Season in Full Swing
With summer season in full swing, I’ll be heading to Estonia this week to play Euronics Invitational Pro Am. Following that I will be playing in the Alps Tour at Añoreta in the Alps de Andalucia, something I am excited about given I have played very well at that course in the past.
The road back to playing competitive golf after the pandemic and an extended layoff of 18 months from golf, admittedly and without question has been a challenging one. Questioning myself at times, wondering if the level I once had was still there. I believe this is a question every athlete/sportsperson asks themselves at one point or another in their respective careers, especially given the recent times of uncertainty regarding the pandemic. However, with the right attitude, belief, guidance and work ethic, you turn a corner and results soon follow.
I’m excited for the coming months so stay tuned as the ride will be a fun one!
