The Champions League returns this week with no fewer than eight games to come on Tuesday evening, with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United in action.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United will travel to Switzerland to tackle Young Boys, while Chelsea will host Zenit St Petersburg at Stamford Bridge.
The game of the night sees Barcelona welcome Bayern Munich to the Camp Nou as they try to get revenge over the Bavarians following their 8-2 defeat two seasons ago.
History Beckons for Ronaldo
Manchester United have travelled to Switzerland without striker Edinson Cavani, with the Uruguay international struggling with a minor injury.
While the news comes as a blow to the Red Devils, Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled with the squad.
Ronaldo should play his first European game for Manchester United since May 2009, and he will equal Iker Casillas’ record of 177 Champions League appearances if he features.
An entertaining game should be on the cards as Young Boys have made an unbeaten start to the season under coach David Wagner. They have scored 13 goals in five home games so far, but it will be a tall order to overcome Solskjaer’s men.
Young Boys have only won one of their eight matches against English opponents and an away win, and both teams to score appeals at 41/20.
Goals on the Cards in Spain
Barcelona will play their first Champions League game since Lionel Messi left the club in the transfer window, and if that wasn’t hard enough, they face Bayern Munich in their opening game of the competition.
Tuesday’s game is the first meeting between the pair since Bayern Munich thrashed Barca 8-2 in the quarter-finals in 2020.
Barca are without Martin Braithwaite due to injury, and although both sides are unbeaten this season, it looks like Bayern should come out on top.
The German champions are unbeaten in their last 18 away Champions League matches, the longest undefeated away run in the history of the European Cup/Champions League.
Bayern are 21/20 to win, while over 3.5 goals appeals at 11/10, with 31 goals scored in the last seven meetings between the pair.
Zenit Should Struggle in London
Zenit St Petersburg face a daunting challenge during their opening game of this season’s Champions League as they prepare to face reigning champions, Chelsea.
The Russian outfit are currently enjoying a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions, with their last defeat coming back in March.
While that is impressive, they have not faced a team of Chelsea’s quality, with Thomas Tuchel’s side unbeaten this season in their opening four Premier League matches.
The Blues have only conceded one goal during that time, and they should get the job done without conceding, with Chelsea to win to nil priced at 10/11.
