Rangers Can Tame Toothless Terriers

Norwich have built up a commanding 10-point lead at the top of the Championship and the Canaries look away and gone in their pursuit of an immediate return to the Premier League.

The scrap to join Norwich in the top-flight is set to go down to the wire, as is the fight for survival at the wrong end of the table.

The battle to avoid the drop is set for a frantic finish with just six points separating 18th-placed Huddersfield and third-bottom Rotherham, who have three games in hand.

Huddersfield Getting That Sinking Feeling

QPR followed up a 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate by beating rock-bottom Wycombe 1-0 at Loftus Road on Tuesday and they can rack up a hat-trick of league wins against Huddersfield at 21/20.

The London hosts have been transformed by the January loan swoop of Charlie Austin, whose return to the club has played a key role in their improvement with them recording eight wins from their last 12 league assignments.

Mark Warburton’s men have won four of their last five league games on home turf, which includes claiming the scalps of promotion hopefuls Brentford and Bournemouth.

It was far from a vintage display against the Chairboys on Tuesday but they were able to get the job done and it may not take much more to tame another relegation-threatened rival in Huddersfield.

The Terriers travel to the capital on a winless run of four, with Tuesday’s 0-0 at home Cardiff the third time they have failed to score during that sequence.

Carlos Coberan’s men are without an away league win since October – 12 games – and only Wycombe have collected fewer points on the road than their total of 10 points from 17 matches.

Royals Have Rediscovered the Winning Touch

Reading have responded well to their recent setback and they can strengthen their position in the play-off places with a fourth straight win at Nottingham Forest.

The Royals had won only one of their opening six league games in February but a trio of triumphs to nil against Rotherham, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday have put them back on track.

And, spearheaded by the prolific Portuguese Lucas Joao, Reading can take their winning tally to four against a Forest side who have suffered consecutive 1-0 defeats to Luton and Watford.

Forest are showing signs of improvement but they are still finding goals hard to come by – they have scored just three goals in seven league games – and that won’t cut it against a disciplined Reading defence.

The 19/10 Royals have conceded in just three of their last nine away league games and only Swansea’s shot-stopper Freddie Woodman has kept more clean sheets than their Brazilian number one Rafael (16 in 35 games) this season.

Much-Improved Bluebirds Set to Sting Hornets

The appointment of Mick McCarthy is working the oracle at Cardiff and they can maintain their unbeaten partnership with a home win over Watford.

The Bluebirds have risen from 15th to eighth and are in touching distance of the playoffs after winning seven and drawing four of their 11 league games under the experienced Irishman.

Cardiff have won their last three home league assignments – they have recorded consecutive 4-0 wins over Derby and Preston – and they look overpriced for victory at 41/20.

The Hornets are up to second in the Championship but they were beaten 1-0 at Bournemouth on their last away trip, with goalless draws at Coventry and Millwall since the turn of the year.

Watford have collected only 22 of their 66 points on their travels and on current form this would be considered one of their tougher away trips.
