PSG and Angers face each other in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. The home side have played well in the previous rounds and won their dress rehearsal against St. Etienne in the league last weekend. The visitors will be short of form and men.

The runners-up in the Ligue 1 table have been convincing in their cup matches so far. The previous three appearances against Caen from Ligue 2 and the league rivals from Brest and Lille were each won without conceding a goal!
For the match between PSG and Angers, the tip includes another success for the favourites with a clean sheet to top it (PSG to win to nil). ✅ The visitors have not been very positive offensively this season and are also plagued by various absences. In light of this combination, there is no sign of them scoring.
The prediction is underpinned by recent performances in Ligue 1, with Moulin’s side scoring just one goal in their last five league games! It should therefore be a largely work-free day for the home defence.
With the visitors’ defence weakened by absences, the home side are again expected to score – even if they may not be at their best and admittedly have currently lost their dominance at home. However, the western side conceded three goals in each of their last two games against Rennes and Lyon!
PSG – Statistics & current form
PSG are the country’s record Cup winners with 13 successes. In the last six editions, they have always reached the final and only once, two years ago against the Bretons from Rennes, did they fail to win the final on top.
In addition to the domestic cup, the footballers from the capital are currently dancing on two other weddings, which is why their schedule is very full at the moment. For example, the Champions League clash with Manchester City is already on the agenda in a week’s time.
In Ligue 1, the Rouge et Bleu also have to fight hard to defend their title. Only five rounds of matches are still to be played and they currently occupy second place.
The Parisians are one point behind the leaders from Lille, which is why the focus is certainly on the league and the top flight rather than the Coupe de France. Against this background, it is conceivable that coach Mauricio Pochettino will give some of his regular players a breather and at least not call them into the starting eleven.
Will the favourites only score twice?
In view of this expectation, the odds on the home side scoring a maximum of two goals in the match between PSG and Angers are value on top. Given the many tasks currently facing the favourites, they are not expected to score, but rather to maintain an expected lead.
The fact that the home games in the recent past were mostly disappointing also speaks for the additional value tip. Three of the last four home games in the Ligue were lost!
Although the opponents, Monaco and Lille, have been quite a challenge, even the second-last team in the table, Nantes, suffered a defeat in between.
Dress rehearsal very close
The Parc des Princes is thus far removed from its former fortress status. At least the last home game against St. Etienne last weekend was victorious. The champions won 3-2 in a hard-fought game, but Icardi scored the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Angers – Statistics & current form
The Scoistes progressed to the quarter-finals of the fourth-tier National 2 with a win at Sedan. Unlike their upcoming opponents, the Noirs et Blancs also have yet to win the Coupe de France. At least twice in 1957 and 2017, however, they made it to the final.
In the league, things are not going well for coach Stephane Moulin’s team. They haven’t won a match in five rounds and lost their last league match against Stade Rennes last Saturday. Angers were beaten 3-0 by the Bretons on their own ground.
Guests arrive decimated
One reason is the tense personnel situation due to injuries and quarantine measures. Once again, more than half a dozen players were absent at the weekend. For the squad, which is already average at best, the many absences cannot be compensated.
As in the previous year, the attack is harmless. Only the three teams at the bottom of the French top flight score less!
