A fun Premier League fixture awaits us as Leicester City visit the Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux this weekend.

Leicester City, who are currently in the third spot at the table with 42 points, will be aiming to inch closer to the top by picking up three points. However, the Wolves are in their way trying to do the same thing as well.

It wasn’t too long ago when these two sides are neck-and-neck at the standings, but a lot has changed since last term.

The Foxes have made an unlikely run to the championship because of their favourable Premier League 2021 results and some luck, while the Wolves have been sliding down because of their players’ drop in form.

Leicester City were impressive in their midweek triumph versus Fulham and they’ll be optimistic for a similar result here.

Meanwhile, the Wolves picked up a much-needed victory against Arsenal and Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping that it can reignite their 2020/21 campaign.

Recent matches between the Wolves and the Foxes are normally close affairs, so this Sunday clash is considered a must-see on TV.

 Can the Wolverhampton Wanderers turn things around?

Injuries and fatigue took a toll on the Wolves as they have been playing a subpar style of football.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers have only won once in their last five league games and they have yet to establish their identity this season.

The absence of Raul Jimenez hurts big time as he was their one of their best attacking threats with four goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the likes of Adama Traore, Joao Moutinho, and summer signing Fabio Silva aren’t playing up to their potential.

Nuno Espirito Santo can’t seem to figure out the proper playstyle suited for his men as of the moment.

On some days, they would score goals in bunches while conceding some. But in most cases, they appear to be gun-shy as the shots on target are hard to come by.

Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence, and Ruben Neves have been trying to hold it down by tallying 10 goals and seven assists. But it’s clear that they will need more support to improve their campaign.

A win over Arsenal should somehow give them a confidence boost. However, I’m not sure that will be enough when the cheeky Foxes visit town.

 

 

Leicester City welcome back key players

 It’s commendable that Leicester City are in the position they’re in right now considering the injury woes that they’ve went through.

Top striker Jamie Vardy was out for several weeks due to an hernia injury, while defencive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi had a minor tear in his hamstring that sidelined him for a couple of fixtures.

Having those two back is definitely good news for Leicester City especially since they have been playing well even without them.

They have only lost once in their last five and several players have stepped up to fill in the void.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first Premier League goal of the season during their victory over Fulham, while the midfield duo of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans has been the fulcrum of their offence.

With Vardy and Ndidi likely available, Rodgers will have the luxury of tinkering his lineup since they will be bombarded by fixtures in the next couple of weeks.

The overall head-to-head matchup is pretty much even between the Wolves and the Foxes.

In their 22 games together, both have won six games each along with 10 draws.

For the last five games, the Wolves and the Foxes have split for one win apiece along with three straight draws.

Four out of those five games only saw one goal from Leicester City, and the only high-scoring affair came last January 2019 in what was a seven-goal thriller.

However, the real value for this game comes from their possible goal count. And since both have engaged in a couple of grinded-out contests recently, I am expecting the same by going for Under 2.50 @ 1.97.

With Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi both upgraded as probable, Leicester City look to have more options at the attack that would help them secure the victory.

But facing the hosts on the road won’t be a walk in the park, and the Foxes should have no room for complacency in order to avoid any slip-ups.
