With the international break over the Premier League run-in effectively starts today. KevMac looks ahead to this weekend’s best bets.
Leicester City v Manchester City
ONLY a monumental collapse can stop Manchester City from claiming the Premier League crown back.
Pep Guardiola’s men sit 14 points clear with eight games to go so it’s just a question of when they get over the line.
They face arguably the toughest test of the run-in today with a game away to third-placed Leicester.
And it could be a good time to face City as they will have one eye on their midweek Champions League quarter-final clash with Borussia Dortmund.
Players are also coming back from an international break and that can often have an effect, with Leicester available at 19/4 with McBookie.
But I’m staying clear of backing a winner and will bet against cards instead as there wasn’t a single booking when these teams last faced off at the King Power Stadium.
Under 2.5 cards pays 11/10 at Bet365 and that’s decent value as neither team is known for putting the boot in.
Arsenal v Liverpool
Liverpool’s title defence has been dismal and they now face a fight just to finish in the top four.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have a tough game tonight as they travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal.
This is another tough one to call so I’m steering clear of the usual markets.
Arsenal look overpriced at 7/4 (Bet 365) to win the most corners as they have been averaging almost six at home while Liverpool’s average on the road is just above three.
Refs have been pretty busy in this fixture with four of the last five meetings seeing four cards or more.
Over 3.5 cards pays 5/4 at McBookie while Grant Xhaka is a tempting 5/2 with Unibet to be carded.
Chelsea v West Brom & Leeds v Sheff Utd
West Brom and Sheffield United both looked doomed to the drop and face daunting tasks today with games at Chelsea and Leeds respectively.
A double on home wins to nil pays a decent 338/100 at McBookie.
Newcastle v Spurs
Newcastle badly need a win at home to Tottenham tomorrow as they bid to ease their own drop fears.
But Spurs should have too much firepower for a Magpies side who crashed 3-0 at Brighton last time out to make it six games without a victory.
A win for Jose Mourinho’s men side doubled with over 2.5 goals pays a decent 6/4 with McBookie.
With Harry Kane odds on with every firm to score I’m going for Lucas Moura instead at 14/5 (888 Sport).
Aston Villa v Fulham
Newcastle sit just two points above Fulham who could move out of the drop zone with a victory away to Aston Villa tomorrow.
Scott Parker has made the Cottagers much harder to beat so I’d be surprised if this one was a thriller.
Under 2.5 goals isn’t great value at a best 14/19 with Red Zone but the half-time draw is better at 21/20 with McBookie. That has landed in Fulham’s last two games.
