There’s a tasty lunch-time treat in the Premier League this afternoon where Leicester and Liverpool clash to kick-off the weekend’s action in the Premier League.
Leicester City v Liverpool
BRENDAN RODGERS has the chance to pile on the misery for his old club today when Leicester host a hurting Liverpool side.
I tipped the champions to lose at home to Manchester City last weekend but was still surprised to see them get annihilated 4-1.
That has left Jurgen Klopp’s side 10 points behind the leaders having played a game more and they are now in danger of slipping out of the top four.
Leicester sit three points ahead of them in the table so I’m surprised to see the Foxes as big as 23/10 with McBookie to win today.
Rodgers has yet to defeat his former club since being axed at Anfield but will never get a better chance.
I can see there being a few goals in this one but over 2.5 strikes isn’t great value at 4/6 with McBookie.
However, in-form Mo Salah is odds-against in the anytime scorer market at 57/50 with Unibet and that looks a good shout.
Both these sides aren’t renowned for putting the boot in and that makes the 5/6 TonyBet are offering on under 3.5 cards appealing.
Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur
City’s juggernaut rolled on in the FA Cup in midweek as they made it 15 wins in a row with a 3-1 victory on the road at Swansea.
There’s now talk of Pep Guardiola’s men doing the Quadruple which is priced 18/1 at William Hill.
I would be surprised if they pulled off the clean sweep and City now face Jose Mourinho’s Spurs, the last team to beat them. The
Special One’s counter-attacking tactics worked a treat in that 2-0 victory back in November.
At that point Tottenham looked more like title contenders than City but they have come right off the boil in recent weeks.
It’s now just one win in five for Mourinho’s side and even that came against struggling West Brom.
So it’s no surprise to see City as 1/3 favourites for this one with McBookie although Spurs look a bit overpriced at 7/1.
Jose will probably park the bus so try backing the second period to be the highest-scoring half at 21/20 with McBookie.
Under 2.5 goals appeals at 11/8 with the same firm as it has landed in three of the last four meetings.
Arsenal v Leeds Utd (Sun)
The game of the weekend down south for the purists will be Arsenal’s clash with Leeds tomorrow.
Both teams to score has been a winning bet with Leeds for most of the season but it pays just 7/12 with SBK here so I’m backing over 1.5 first-half goals instead at 7/5 with SportNation.
Brighton v Aston Villa
Brighton saw their six-game unbeaten run end with an FA Cup defeat at Leicester in midweek.
The Seagulls have shipped just three goals in their last seven games so it could pay to bet against BTTS at 7/5 with BetVictor when Aston Villa come calling.
Under 2.5 goals pays 11/10 with McBookie and is worth considering as it has landed in Brighton’s last five.
