The Aussie Rules action continues apace over the weekend, with three big games on Saturday and two on Sunday in week 14 to keep fans of the AFL happy.
Hinckley’s Men to Power On
One of the stand-out fixtures of the weekend is an early-morning affair for European audiences as leaders Port Adelaide take on struggling Sydney at 04:45.
The Power, who are 2/15 to win, still sit top of the table but second-place Brisbane are also on 40 points after both sides have racked up 10 wins and three defeats from their first 13 games of the AFL campaign.
Port suffered a recent 91-31 loss to fourth-place Geelong Cats and some were beginning to question their Grand Final credentials but Ken Hinckley’s men bounced back by overcoming Hawthorn last week (68-58) and they look well-equipped to see off the 4/1 Swans who are down in 16th place and out of form, managing just one win in their last four matches.
Dockers Can Continue Momentum
The second game on Saturday starts slightly later, when 12th-placed Greater Western Sydney, who are 5/9 to win take on 13/10 Fremantle at the Optus Stadium in Perth at 07:35.
The match odds reflect the fact that these two are fairly evenly-matched and they have a remarkably similar record so far this year.
However, Fremantle come into this on the back of a big 50-19 victory over Sydney so will be keen to maintain that momentum against a GWS outfit who have lost their last two and were well beaten by the Swans themselves only a fortnight ago (66-25).
Therefore, the price on a Fremantle win might just be the way to go, representing the value selection of the weekend.
Sixth-placed St Kilda then go up against Melbourne at the Marrara Oval and again this is predicted to be a tight affair. The Demons are 1/1 to prevail but 5/7 St Kilda, who have won three of their last five, cannot be discounted.
Melbourne had decent wins over North Melbourne and Collingwood in weeks 11 and 12 before slipping to a disappointing 80-52 defeat to the Bulldogs last time out.
Suns to Further Expose Kangaroos’ Shortcomings
In the two games that follow on Sunday, expect little between 10/11 Carlton Blues and 4/5 Collingwood in a clash that really could go either way, before the Gold Coast Suns should have enough to see off North Melbourne.
The Suns have struggled to find any sort of rhythm of late but the Roos have been woeful in 2020, picking up just three wins all year to sit second bottom. A run of four straight defeats suggests any sort of improvement remains some way off and Gold Coast can take advantage at odds of 8/15 to win.
