Crystal Palace will fancy their chances of making it back-to-back wins in the Premier League on Monday when they visit a Burnley side that are yet to register a top-flight victory.
Palace produced arguably their best display of the campaign when thrashing Leeds 4-1 at Selhurst Park before the international break and Roy Hodgson’s side could even move into the top-six of the standings with another big victory at Turf Moor.
Away Day Joy for Palace
The Eagles are traditionally stronger on the road, with their counter-attacking style often troubling the big-hitters in the division and they have already won at Manchester United and Fulham this season.
Hodgson’s side have also triumphed on each of their last two visits to Burnley, most recently claiming a 2-0 win at Turf Moor last November, with goals from Wilfried Zaha and Jeffrey Schlupp helping them to all three points that day.
A similar result could be on the cards on Monday given Burnley are yet to win in the league this season and they have taken just two points from their opening seven games, with all three of their home matches having ended in defeat.
Palace could, therefore, prove good value at 9/5 to win the match, while Burnley are available at 37/20 to end their winless streak and the draw is on offer at 41/20.
War of Attrition at Turf Moor
Goals may be at a premium in Lancashire, with Burnley having scored the fewest in the Premier League to date this season with just three to their name, while all of those strikes coming away from Turf Moor.
Palace also traditionally struggle for goals, although they have seemingly improved in that department, striking 12 times already this season, although they have also failed to score in recent away matches against Chelsea and Wolves.
Meetings between the two sides also rarely end in goal fests, with six of the last seven clashes seeing under 2.5 goals scored, so backing that to happen again on Monday at 4/7 could prove shrewd.
High-Quality Stalemate Could be on the Cards at Molineux
Wolves and Southampton both have realistic ambitions of breaking into the top-six of the Premier League this season and their meeting at Molineux on Monday night could make for an intriguing contest.
After back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the top-flight, Wolves have gone slightly under the radar so far this season, but they have only lost one of their last five games, while Manchester City are the only side to have left Molineux with a victory so far this term.
Southampton’s performances have garnered far more attention and they will move up to third in the standings if they claim a victory at Molineux, which would also extend their current winning run to four matches.
However, it is Wolves that have the better recent record in meetings between the two sides, as they have only lost one of the last nine clashes, with Southampton’s last victory at Molineux coming back in March 2007.
Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 1-1 stalemate and it would be no surprise to see a similar result on Monday, with the draw being priced at 11/5.
