There is a full round of midweek action to enjoy in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday, with title-chasing Celtic and Rangers both facing tricky looking fixtures.
It promises to be one of closest title races in years north of the border, with Celtic having established a one-point lead over Rangers at the top of the standings following last week’s convincing victory in the Old Firm Derby.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be on their travels on Wednesday when they visit Aberdeen, while Rangers will have home advantage for their clash with Hibernian, with four other Premiership matches also available to enjoy across the evening.
Bhoys Winning Run to Continue
Celtic’s form over recent months has been near faultless, with the Bhoys having won seven matches in a row and 14 of their last 15 across all competitions.
Postecoglou has certainly ironed out the early season teething problems he had following his arrival at the club over the summer and he will expect his side to secure all three points at Pittodrie against an Aberdeen outfit that have failed to win any of their last 16 meetings with Celtic.
The Bhoys were conceding goals on a regular basis earlier in the season, but three clean sheets on the bounce has underlined their new found resilience, and an away win to zero on Wednesday could be worth considering at 17/10.
Gers to Make Light Work of Hibs
Rangers bounced back from last week’s Old Firm defeat in some style, thrashing third-place Hearts 5-0 on Sunday, a result that also saw Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side extend their Premiership winning run at Ibrox to seven matches.
Next up for the Gers will be another home clash, this time with Hearts’ Edinburgh rivals Hibernian, who will head to Ibrox having failed to win any of their last five league games.
Shaun Maloney’s side have also netted just a solitary goal during that period and the Hibees could be set for another difficult evening on Wednesday.
Hibs did claim a 3-1 success over Rangers in the League Cup earlier this season, but the Gers have won each of the last five league meetings between the two sides, conceding just two goals in the process, and they can be backed at 23/20 to deliver another victory to zero this midweek.
Cagey Tannadice Encounter Expected
The pick of the remaining Premiership matches on paper would appear to be at Tannadice where sixth-place Dundee United will be entertaining Motherwell in fourth, but in truth both sides are out of form.
United have failed to score in each of their last three games, following up a narrow defeat to Celtic with back-to-back goalless draws against the bottom two, St Johnstone and city rivals Dundee.
Wins and goals have also been an issue for Motherwell of late, with Graham Alexander’s side having registered just two points and two goals from their five league fixtures since the turn of the year.
All that points to this match being anything but a classic, with under 2.5 goals in the contest available at 4/7, while the 0-0 draw can be backed at 13/2.
