1.00 – British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (5f)
Shakenotstirred was clear second-best on debut at Sandown recently behind a smart-looking sort. She’s got strong claims now if handling this faster surface. So, too, Bloomington Bride and Catatumbo may well build on their debut runs but newcomers Lady Fantasia and COTAI BEAUTY are major threats. The former represents Roger Varian’s in-form team and should be in the mix under Hollie Doyle but maybe some value is to be had with James Tate’s filly. She cost £95,000 and is bred to be speedy. The yard’s juveniles have started well, so she could be ready to make quick inroads.
Selection: Cotai Beauty @ 13/2
1.30 – Betstival Season At Mansionbet Handicap (1m6f)
Mark Johnston’s pair Overthink and Fandabidozi have to prove effectiveness at this trip, while Oceanline needs to improve seemingly. NORMAN KINDU was a winner two starts ago at Wetherby on his first attempt at this distance and David O’Meara’s charge is forgiven his subsequent effort having met soft ground that didn’t appear to suit. He’s only 3lb above that win-mark and conditions are favourable here for an unexposed stayer.
Selection: Norman Kindu @ 2/1
2.05 – MansionBets Summer Of Love-ly Offers Fillies’ Handicap (6f)
Rainbow Mirage possibly didn’t handle the track at Brighton last time. She had been in good form previously and a bounce-back is possible with Hollie Doyle on board for the first time here. Company Minx won a Newmarket apprentice race last time under this rider at 50/1 and must prove she can perform as well again now, so the vote goes to HEPTATHLETE. She’s been thriving on the all-weather and the French-import will have fine claims if taking that improved form across to the grass. Stefano Cherchi will be buzzing after a Redcar double on Tuesday and they are solid players in this race.
Selection: Heptathlete @ 11/2
2.35 – MansionBets Betstival Beaten By A Head Handicap (5f)
Crimson Sand had to wait for some gaps last time at Ascot and there might be better to come from him imminently. He’s not one to cross off in haste. Cahors gave it a real go at Goodwood last time out and should be in the mix. Rebel At Dawn and Fantasy Master have their concerns and so handicap debutante PORNSTAR MARTINI is worth chancing. She won well on debut last summer before coming up shy in a Group 3 at Salisbury. This opening mark could be within reach on her comeback given doubts about the majority of these.
Selection: Pornstar Martini @ 6/1
3.10 – MansionBets Betstival Bet 10 Get 20 Handicap (1m2f)
Like Sugar and PUCKLE look the pair to focus on. The former won nicely at Lingfield under Stefano Cherchi last month and may go well again, though she was allowed an easy lead there and is now 4lb higher. Mark Johnston’s daughter of Poet’s Voice is preferred. She’s posted figures of 3222 so far this season and gain a deserved success if the first-time cheekpieces prove to be a positive.
Selection: Puckle @ 2/1
3.40 – Mansionbet Betstival Handicap (1m½f)
Qaasid showed a nice attitude when scoring at Kempton on the all-weather in November on third start; he’s been gelded since and could have plenty more to come for Sir Michael Stoute but SEVENAL is hard to look beyond for the Gosdens. The Sea The Stars colt won a Windsor novice last month over this sort of trip and goes handicapping now with first-time cheekpieces added. He’s Frankie Dettori’s only ride on the card and the Italian can make it pay.
Selection: Sevenal @ 3/1
4.15 – Follow RacingTV On Twitter ‘Hands And Heels’ Apprentice Handicap (1m½f)
Lightning Attack narrowly missed out at Bath last time and will be fancied to make a bold compensation bid now. The ground there was appreciably softer then and he must repeat the trick on quicker going, but this is a very good opportunity in truth. Lots of these are averse to winning. Maiden DON’T JOKE was second over C&D on penultimate start and could grab a race of this ilk from his lowly rating if things fall right.
Selection: Don’t Joke @ 17/2
