With seasons finishing all around Europe, the Norwegian football, which is always at the forefront of my mind, can become a potential gold mine for the punter.
Unfortunately after this coming weekend, the top two leagues take a break, but thankfully Division 2 and Division 3 continue on and there will be plenty opportunities in those leagues to look at, with some huge scores happening every single week.
Today however, I am looking at two Eliteserien games on Thursday 26th May, and a full OBOS Ligaen card, the Norwegian 2nd tier.
Sarpsborg v Molde
No teams’ matches this season have seen more average corners than Sarpsborg, averaging 14 corners per game. This week at home to Molde to get even money on 11 or more corners seemed very generous to me.
Sarspborg have played 7 games this season, there have been 11 or more corners in all 7 of them so far.
There have been 12, 16, 13 and 18 in the four home games so far, so I think the price is very nice for something that is 100% up till now.
Molde games haven’t quite been as corner friendly, but the way they play with Magnus Wolff Eikrem running the game from a false 9 position means they play often through the middle.
Rumour is he will be rested for this one, and Fofana could well play in his place, much quicker and more direct, I think Molde will attack using the wings more often this game on Thursday and contribute to a big corner count in an attacking game.
OBOS Ligaen
The OBOS has been great to me so far this year, Mjøndalen in particular. They opened at 4/5 for Thursday at home to Ranheim, but have dropped in price and are a little shorter now at 7/10.
However, there are a few things I like the look of in the league on Thursday.
Brann played on Saturday, winning 3-0 over Fredrikstad, and with two extra days rest, travel to promoted Kongsvinger who sit 10th, but they have had a fairly gentle start to the season.
In the 3 away games so far this year for Brann, they have scored 12 goals; 4 at Ranheim, 3 at Skeid and 5 last time out at KFUM Oslo, the team Kongsvinger lost late to on Monday.
Getting 2/1 here for Brann to score 3 or more goals, and given the way they attack, the extra rest, the huge gulf in budget and quality, I fancy them to add to their early season goals tally.
I also like putting on a couple of doubles or Trebles in OBOS, I think there are some big mis-matches every week.
Stabæk and Start to both win pays 8/5, something I really like on Thursday. I also like Mjøndalen, Brann and Fredrikstad, as well as Sogndal and Sandnes ULF as slightly more outside bets.
One Last Thing
The final thing to keep an eye on is Vålerenga II playing against Tromsdalen in the Second Divison Group 2. A game sandwiched in between the first team having games on Wednesday/Sunday will probably mean they have only youth players involved.
If that is the case, Tromsdalen to win and score at least 2 goals doing it at even money could be printing money. The price would drop massively if the team put out is weak, so it’s a bit of a risk/reward one.
