Week 8 is an important week throughout the NFL, teams that are tanking will look to keep on losing and teams that are stuck in the middle of the pack have an opportunity to get a lead midway through the season. The Carolina Panthers are hoping to get back on track in what should be a heated rivalry game against the Atlanta Falcons. We also get to see what Davis Mills can do against the Rams. Also, will Patrick Mahomes be healthy enough to get on the field for the Chiefs Monday Night Showdown?
Los Angeles Rams @ Houston Texans
This season just keeps on getting better for Los Angeles as they line up against the Houston Texans this weekend. Look, the Texans have been surprisingly competitive at times, but they are just not that great of a team. They held their own defensively against the Arizona Cardinals last week but couldn’t get anything going on offense with Davis Mills at quarterback. Meanwhile, the Rams did struggle to get past the tricky Detroit Lions, sealing the game with a Jalen Ramsey interception. If you were thinking about placing a bet for this game, there shouldn’t be any doubt in your mind that the Rams will be winning this game. To get a little more specific, I would even say that wide receiver Cooper Kupp will have over 100 yards through the air pretty easily. He has without a doubt been Matthew Stafford’s favourite target in the pass game so he should be getting a ton of opportunities to break that mark again here.
Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons
The Carolina Panthers have apparently been heavily overrated this season. They won three straight games to start the year and yet have lost their last four to sit at a 3-4 overall record. The Falcons, somehow, are 3-3 on the season and coming off a nice win over the Miami Dolphins. Division games are usually always close, so nothing is a gimme, but the Panthers have been so bad without Christian McCaffrey in the line-up, that I genuinely believe the Falcons jump them in the division rankings in this game. I would bet that the Falcons win a very close game after Sam Darnold struggles once again. Also, I believe that Kyle Pitts will have another huge performance. It seems like this group has finally realized they drafted him in the first round and the past two weeks he has over 250 receiving yards and a touchdown. He should break at least 50 yards for this game and could even explode for a third straight dominant performance.
New York Giants @ Kansas City Chiefs
This is probably going to be the most confusing game of the week. Two teams that have beaten strong teams and yet have been horrible in other games. The Giants have shown flashes of being a top team out in the NFC but with a million injuries spread across their roster they just haven’t been able to show it. Meanwhile, the Chiefs seem genuinely cursed this season. Patrick Mahomes leads the league in interceptions and the team has turned the ball over the most in the league. Not to mention that their defense is ranked 32nd in almost every major statistical category heading into this game. Mahomes is battling a head injury right now but if he does end up suiting up, I think he will toss a couple of touchdowns to get himself back on track. I will also bet that Daniel Jones has himself a nice day through the air. Maybe New York picks up an upset?
