The first week of the NFL season was a lot of fun, and featured not a few surprises along the way. Here’s hoping that Week 2 can live up to expectations as well.
Let’s kick this off with arguably the most anticipated game of the week…
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens
There are a few good bets to make in this contest, but I think that the biggest one would be that the Chiefs pull away with a victory. Yes, these two teams have been two matches against one another since Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes entered the league but let’s face it, the Chiefs are simply the better team. Mahomes has defeated Jackson in every single game they’ve played, and I don’t see it going any differently in this upcoming Week 2 game. The Chiefs just came off a huge win at home over the Cleveland Browns, with Mahomes throwing for nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He is also undefeated throughout his career during the month of September. Meanwhile, the Ravens are working without multiple starters on each end of the ball and just lost in overtime to the Las Vegas Raiders. If you are looking to make a bet that you feel confident this weekend, I would look for this game.
Minnesota Vikings @ Arizona Cardinals
Here is another game that is enticing for some bets. Without a doubt, I get the feeling that this game is going to have a boatload of points being put up on the board. The over looks fantastic for this matchup. The Vikings have one of the most talented offenses in the league, besides their offensive line, with Dalvin Cook, Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson spread across their roster. The Cardinals on the other hand have Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Rondale Moore and James Connor. Oh right, and the Vikings defense is still among the worst units in the league. Murray and company just dropped 38 points against a mediocre at best Tennessee Titans defense, they are bound to rip apart Minnesota in this matchup. Which will cause the Vikings to have to keep up and score touchdowns in garbage time. Once again, the over here looks phenomenal.
Denver Broncos @ Jacksonville Jaguars
This may be a game that nobody is expecting but could have some interesting betting ideas. After watching the Jaguars opening game, it was apparent that Urban Meyer isn’t much of a fan of James Robinson and running the football. Trevor Lawrence threw the ball over 50 times in his first game, and Meyer favoured Carlos Hyde at running back. I believe that the Jaguars are once again going to stray away from the run game or try and work behind Hyde, which isn’t going to work against this Denver front seven. Denver just locked up Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants rushing attack less than a week ago, I am sure that they can limit this Jacksonville offense that doesn’t seem NFL ready right now. Betting on Jacksonville rushing for less than 100 total yards seems like a pretty good option right now. Then again, Meyer could end up feeling the pressure to run the football and get Robinson a little more involved.
