We had a cracker to watch on Thursday night as the Seahawks defeated the Rams 30-29 after a masterclass from Russell Wilson. Does he get the credit he deserves? He can do things that very few other players can in this league as highlighted by the ridiculous Tyler Lockett TD in the corner of the endzone. For our bets the over landed, but frustratingly DK Metcalf fell 2 yards short of his line. He did score a TD which was hinted at but not recommended officially.
Sunday night is here though and it’s almost time for 7 hours of commercial free football on Redzone tonight (side note, Sky Sports Mix is now 145 on Sky) I’ll have my Bengals hosting the Cardinals on one screen, it’s not going to be pretty but should be quite an entertaining game as neither team can defend, and I’ll have redzone on the other screen.
Mack attack keeps the scoring low in London.
Tonight sees the start of the International series games as the Raiders ‘host’ the Bears at Spurs’ stadium, probably not the best game ever if you like points in your games, the Bears defense is legit and the Raiders are likely without their main WR who has scored in every game so far this season. The Bears lost their starting QB last week which is ironically probably an upgrade for a week or two at least as Chase Daniel stepped in and spread the ball around well. I don’t think this one will have a whole lot of points, the Bears should take care of business even as 5 point favourites. I do like Khalil Mack 2+ sacks at 5/2 on Skybet. If you’re going to the game, enjoy it, I couldn’t justify going to all 4 but will be at the two Wembley games and can’t wait!
No defense? No worries
As I hinted above the Cardinals v Bengals probably won’t be the prettiest game of football that’s ever taken place but there should be a fair bit of scoring. The Cardinals play at the quickest tempo of any team in the league and have some talent on offense, mainly David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald, but their rookie QB has got wheels as well and I’m strangely confident in him finding the endzone tonight against a Bengals team which struggles to stop the run, especially QB runs. The Bengals too can put up points despite the fact their injury list grows every single week. Auden Tate and Tyler Eifert should have good games tonight. The Cardinals have allowed a TE to score in every game they’ve played this year so that’s a big tick for Eifert who should have had a TD on Monday night.
Downfield threats finally connect?
The Texans v Falcons should have a lot of points as well for similar reasons. Neither team has shown any real ability to defend the pass and both have great weapons in that area of the game. This matchup sees two of the top 3 wide receivers in the game go against each other, Julio Jones and Deandre ‘nuk’ Hopkins. Julio has started well and is the Falcons most targeted player in the redzone (something which has frequently proved an issue for them) and he’s scored 4 TDs so far this season. Hopkins has not started well but has faced some of the better corners in the league, he and Will Fuller opposite him have been very close to some long-bomb scores this year and that should get right in this one.
So for recommended bets, do I go a little expansive? Or stick to safer things… decisions decisions.
