It’s the second day at Newmarket for their Future Champions Meeting and this afternoon’s seven-race card (1.10pm-4.50pm) is headlined by the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes, featuring a host of exciting colts.
The supporting races aren’t bad either, including the famous Cesarewitch Handicap at 3.35pm.

1.10 – Dubai Nursery (7f)
Ralph Beckett won this last year and might do so again with the experienced ZOFFARELLI. He’s already quite streetwise and got on the scoresheet at Kempton last time in good style. The Derby-entered Tawaareq built on his debut with a win at Doncaster last month and should have more to offer now, while Series Of Dreams was outclassed in an Ayr Group 3 last time but should give a solid account in this line-up.

1.45 – Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes (Group 3, 1m2f)
There are few more interesting runners than Kyprios in this for Aidan O’Brien, a first runner for the Ballydoyle supremo in the famous Moyglare colours. He took a while to get motoring before winning on debut at Galway and is bred to be smart. British representation is strong via Recovery Run, Fabilis and LONE EAGLE.
The selection has improved nicely since finishing a narrow second to Recovery Run on debut and he accounted for a well-touted favourite in Legend Of Dubai at Doncaster last time. There should be more to come from him up in distance.
Soft ground, meanwhile, is a worry for Ralph Beckett’s Frankel colt Fabilis.

2.20 – Emirates Autumn Stakes (Group 3, 1m)
Van Gogh was second to Dewhurst-bound Cadillac in Ireland last month, before landing a Curragh maiden. He’s got the best form in this field.
One Ruler and Dhahabi represent Godolphin in a race they traditionally do very well in, the former having clashed with subsequent Royal Lodge winner New Mandate here last month.
However, they might all give best to AKMAAM, Brian Meehan’s colt having impressed with his debut win at Ascot last month as he set the pace and quickened away in good style, clocking a smart time as he did so.

2.55 – Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1, 7f)
A scintillating Dewhurst is in prospect with a packed field of 14 with the unbeaten duo of Thunder Moon and Chindit dominating the market.
Joseph O’Brien’s National Stakes winner possesses a rapid-fire change of pace, shown in getting out of traffic problems for that Group 1 win at the Curragh.
Chindit was impressive too in the way he travelled into the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster before mastering the well-touted (and re-opposing) Albasheer. They deserve to head the market but CADILLAC could be value against them.
Jessica Harrington’s Lope De Vega colt has been very impressive in his two Leopardstown wins (7f/1m), either side of a solid Group 2 second at the Curragh on soft-to-heavy going. His ability to handle conditions – and his proven stamina – could be key factors under a confident Shane Foley.

3.35 – Together For Racing International Cesarewitch Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 2m2f)
A cavalry charge across two counties and over two-and-a-quarter-miles, this traditional end-of-term exam is amongst the toughest handicaps in racing.
Remarkably, Willie Mullins bids for three wins in a row in the Cesarewitch as he saddles Great White Shark. Only 10th as favourite last year, she’s rated 3lb lower and returns in fine fettle. Progressive three-year-old Coltrane jostles for favouritism but Andrew Balding’s colt is going into deep waters now.
Therefore, an each-way play on RAJINSKY is instead suggested. Tom Dascombe’s charge has thrived at trips beyond two miles and looks worthy of a crack at this. He’s on a fair mark and last month’s Haydock run (dropped to 1m6f) is easily forgiven as he was unusually held up. He handles soft ground and can go well at a price.

4.15 – Dubai British EBF Boadicea Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Listed, 6f)
Breathtaking Look is consistent in this grade and is worth considering while market leader Millisle has the tools to succeed as she won the Group 1 Cheveley Park over C&D on final start last season (good ground). She didn’t stay a mile in the 1,000 Guineas but has done well back in trip including a very impressive Naas Group 3 win in July. The concern is that she was simply way below that form in one run since.
MAID IN INDIA is a prolific winner (7-19) and her Group 1 run at the Curragh (5f, good) last month strongly suggested she’s ready to go in again. That form was advertised since, she handles soft and can make good use of the weight she gets from her main market rivals.

4.50 – Darley Stakes (Group 3, 1m1f)
Posted has developed a likeable profile this season and she appeared to relish making the running under William Buick for the first time at Sandown last month. The Kingman filly will be dangerous if given a soft advantage.
However, Sir Michael Stoute will have strong hopes that Dante second HIGHEST GROUND can immediately regain the winning thread after shedding his unbeaten record at York in July. He’s lightly-raced and has plenty scope for further development under his expert handler. He can send favourite-backers home happy.
