There may only be four shopping days remaining before Christmas but it’s only half that number for racing as Tuesday is the penultimate day of action before the big day!
There’s an afternoon of all-weather action in store from Newcastle, where they race from 2.25pm-5.30pm at Gosforth Park.
You can watch all the action, as well as the jumps cards from Ayr and Plumpton, via live streaming when logged into MansionBet and our tipster has a race-by-race guide to the card at Newcastle.
2.25 – Betway Handicap (1m4½f)
Major Snugfit arrives with excellent claims, wining over C&D in October and runner-up this month at Wolverhampton but bottom-weight NASTASIYA is given the nod. Tristan Davidson’s filly is still a maiden but, after three starts over hurdles for this yard, she ran a close third at this track over further 10 days ago. She has form at this sort of trip and looks to be on a fair mark.
Selection: Nastasiya @ 3/1
2.55 – Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap (1m2f)
Rose Of Lancashire is a long-standing maiden but her recent efforts at Wolverhampton offer optimism she might soon break though. Lucinda Russell’s mare ENGLES ROCK won here over a mile in October and was only just denied the follow up last month. Her latest run was a luckless one and, with Oisin Orr here for one ride, she looks worth supporting again with the longer trip no barrier.
Selection: Engles Rock @ 11/2
3.25 – Betway Novice Stakes (6f)
Blackjack made a winning debut over C&D late last month, defying an SP of 50/1 to hold off re-opposing Canzone in second spot. The winner has more to do under a penalty but can progress. Both are overlooked in favour of ALHAMMAAM. The Stuart Williams inmate has twice run well at Chelmsford over 7f since linking up with this trainer, last time in a handicap, behind a subsequent winner, and this looks a good opening for him.
Selection: Alhammaam @ 8/11
4.00 – Play Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free Novice Stakes (5f)
A drop in class resulted in a fairly straightforward win for Kaboo at Wolverhampton in September. After three turf starts in Listed/Group 3 company, he was entitled to land that prize and there could be more to come from him now. An each-way alternative might be SASSY RASCAL for George Boughey. The filly won a Lingfield novice in September over this trip and ran well last month under a penalty at Chelmsford over further. Back down in trip, she should have a say.
Selection: Sassy Rascal @ 7/2
4.30 – MansionBet Proud Partners Of AWC Handicap (1m)
Very difficult to rule out any of this quartet. Three are last-time-out winners, with the exception being Teston, though he has Elle-May Croot claiming a handy 7lb. Masked Identity bids for a four-timer and is respected but VINDOBALA scored over C&D 10 days and the filly doesn’t appear to have been overburdened by a 2lb rise in the ratings for that effort.
Selection: Vindobala @ 3/1
5.00 – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (7f)
ORBAAN was faced with a difficult assignment in a Listed contest at Kempton last time and he wasn’t disgraced over the mile trip. He’s yet to win over a trip as short as this but the best of this summer’s turf efforts suggested he can muster something up and he looks to be on a mark with potential here.
Selection: Orbaan @ 6/4
5.30 – Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap (5f)
A wide open finale. GOOD EARTH has shaped nicely in two runs since joining this trainer and he looked a touch unfortunate last time at Wolverhampton having run into traffic at a crucial stage. He’s done all his winning on turf this far but those recent runs are encouraging in regards to scoring for the first time on an artificial surface.
Selection: Good Earth @ 7/1
