It is the second of two days at Newbury, where the Grade Three Greatwood Gold Cup is the feature race on the card from the Berkshire racecourse.
The action takes place between 1.15-4.47 and you can watch it all via live streaming when logged into MansionBet – alongside all the action from the UK and Ireland. Our tipster has previewed Newbury’s Saturday card.
1.15 – Play Pick 6 And Win £1000 Veterans’ Handicap Chase (3m2f)
Much was expected of Aso, as the 12-year-old is a former Grade Two winner, and although he is a long way off that level now, this latest mark of 142 gives him an excellent chance of recording his first success since 2019. Missing Aso now a none runner, Kauto Riko looks to have a great opportunity to claim the spoils.
Selection: Kauto Riko @ 7/4
1.50 – BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase (2m4f – Grade 3)
GLEN FORSA produced his best performance for some time when he scored at Musselburgh (2m6f) last month. He was five lengths clear of his rivals at the finish at the Scottish racecourse. Although Charlie Longsdon’s gelding has gone up 5lb in the ratings, he remains way below his peak mark, which means he has a great chance of successfully following up.
Selection: Glen Forsa @ 5/1
2.27 – Download The BetVictor App Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)
In what was his first start for his new trainer, PUNCTUATION got off the mark at the fifth attempt on the track at Warwick (2m) back in January. The change in scenery has clearly helped this horse. He won with plenty in hand so this 11lb rise in the ratings is unlikely to prevent him from doubling his tally.
Selection: Punctuation @ 7/4
3.02 – Make Your Best Bet At BetVictor Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)
Former bumper winner BLACK POPPY was on the right side of a photo-finish at Hereford on his latest outing, scoring for the first time over hurdles by a narrow margin. Kerry Lee’s runner battled well in the closing stages of that race. He gets the nod over C&D winner Lord Baddesley.
Selection: Black Poppy @ 2/1
3.37 – BetVictor Non-Runner-No-Bet At Cheltenham Seniors’ Handicap Hurdle (2m4½f)
C&D winner DORKING BOY has returned to form this season after switching back to hurdles. He was successful on his penultimate outing at Taunton (2m3f), while he finished second on his latest effort at Huntingdon (2m3½f). This new mark of 125 remains workable and he will relish the conditions.
Selection: Dorking Boy @ 7/2
4.12 – BetVictor Play Pick 6 For Free Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (2m7½f)
There are just five runners for this novices’ handicap chase, but it’s a competitive contest as many of these are in great form, none more so far than MAJOR DUNDEE. Alan King’s runner has a 100% record over fences, and he can remain unbeaten after this contest, as there looks to be more to come from this talented horse.
Selection: Major Dundee @ 7/2
4.47 – Visit Irish Store Sales With ITM Open National Hunt Flat Race (2m1f)
Captain Destiny was looking to build on some previous form but is now a non-runner for this contest. Five-year-old Firestream has attracted plenty of admirers and could have enough to see off the competition.
Selection: Firestream @ 9/4
