I FELL out with VAR again yesterday and blamed the new introduction for downing my Top Treble.
That’s probably a bit harsh but Spurs looked to my eyes as if they were denied two penalties against Newcastle.
Maybe that was because I needed a Spurs win to land my line but VAR agreed with Mike Dean and that was that. It’s confusing because it seems VAR can’t award a pen even if they think it is one unless they reckon there has been a clear mistake.
The first spot-kick rejection at 0-0 was particularly sore as Harry Kane would have taken it and I needed a first goal from him to bring up my VIPS tips double with Lawrence Shankland.
My second treble also lost with Sampdoria failing to score against Lazio so it was a disappointing day.
As well as Spurs and Roma’s draw there were a few shock results so well done to all the winners who avoided them.
It’s Bank Holiday Monday and a full National League card – I won’t be tipping these games but others such as HullShaker might.
Inter v Lecce is the big game on the Continent and there are other matches I might look at before putting up a double or treble.
