WE’VE had all sorts of games over the past month but we can safely say the season starts for real on Friday night.
Four Scottish teams have already played and won in Europe this week but when Hearts take on Dundee United in the Betfred Cup group stage opener it will feel like football is really back.
It’s a good fixture too with Hearts looking to top last season’s Betfred Cup semi-final and Scottish Cup Final and Craig Levein fairly happy with the additions he has made to his squad such as Northern Ireland striker Conor Washington and Jamie Walker. However, Arnaud Djoum’s exit is a blow and key midfielder Peter Haring is injured.
Hearts are short-priced favourites but Dundee United are looking for a massive improvement and promotion back to the Premiership and boss Robbie Neilson – who used to be Hearts gaffer – has been handed funds that have saw him bring in players such as last season’s prolific scorer Lawrence Shankland from Ayr.
He has held on to his best players and with United as big as 5-1 at bet365 I’m going with a Super Single of the away side draw no bet at 10-3 with Betfred and William Hill,
SlipsTips and kevinmac picked a few winners each on their Kilmarnock and Aberdeen previews respectively and kevinmac has posted a Hearts vs Dundee United preview here.
Well done to all the winners including Scott with his members bet and Greg with his Europa League goals from Scandinavia.
Malmo -2 and Norrkopoing did the business for me but I was let down by Legia Warsaw at Europa.
There’s nothing for me to look at but the Hearts game but if you’re looking at friendlies or anything else good luck with all of your bets. I’ll be down all day at the Scottish Open so will check in much later.
