I’M running out of superlatives after Spurs’ sensational fightback to rock Ajax and reach the Champions League Final.
Like Liverpool 24 hours before them Mauricio Pochettino’s men battled back from 3-0 down but in an even more dramatic finish Lucas Moura completed his hat-trick to win the tie.
I was in my sick bed all day but dragged myself out about 7.55pm to take in the game and so glad I did. Apologies to my Daily Record sports desk colleagues for my absence as they more than likely ripped up the back page – just as all the Dutch newspapers would have been binning their copy!
So it’s Liverpool v Spurs in Madrid on June 1 and it will almost be impossible to match the drama of the last two nights. Last time Liverpool won the Champions League they trailed AC Milan 3-0 at half-time before winning on penalties – could we have more of the same?
Well done to all the winners last night including Scott with another members bet winner. I wasn’t on the site all day so haven’t clocked everyone’s tips but I know there were some crackers. My only bet on Heung-Min Son to score was a loser.
On Thursday we have the second legs of the Europa League semis and the prospect of another all-English final. Arsenal head to Valencia with a 3-1 lead while Chelsea welcome Eintracht Frankfurt with the sides locked at 1-1.
I expect goals at Stamford Bridge while Valencia with a fine home record could beat the Gunners on the night but if they concede it will be tough to qualify.
I’d like to put up a double but I haven’t had enough time to study the games. Previews will be posted on the site. Kevinmac has put up Chelsea vs Eintracht Frankfurt tips and SlipsTips will add Valencia vs Arsenal.
