VAR continues to dominate the women’s World Cup and it also had an input at Copa America yesterday.
England v Cameroon was dominated by the new technology and even showed its softer side by taking pity on the raging Africans at the end. That was a pity for anyone like HullShaker who had tipped a penalty to be awarded or others who were on cards as it was a red all day long.
So VAR continues to be controversial and will be hogging the headlines I’m sure next season when it’s introduced to the Premier League.
Well done to all the winners yesterday – my only bet was a moneyback fivefold and I hit four out of five with Germany Under-21s letting me down.
Two more last-16 games at the women’s World Cup tonight with USA tackling Spain and Canada facing Sweden.
Ivory Coast and Tunisia are among the teams in action at the Africa Cup of Nations and the Copa America games at midnight are Chile v Uruguay and Ecuador v Japan.
Croatia v England at the Under-21s Championship is a dead rubber while Romania v France to decide top spot in Group C should see plenty of goals with 11 in Romania’s two openers.
I’ll have a closer look at the games in the morning and decide whether to put up any tips.
