AFTER two nights of European drama it’s back to the domestic scene as we continue the countdown to the end of the season.
Arsenal reached the Europa League Final with a dazzling display away to Valencia while Chelsea edged out Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties to make it a full house of English teams in the showpieces at Madrid and Baku.
In the Scottish Premiership on Friday I fancy Aberdeen to beat a Hearts side who will be wrapping players in cotton wool ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic.
Craig Levein’s side have been hampered by injuries all season and hitman Uche Ikpeazu won’t be risked at Pittodrie. With Steven Naismith still out the Jambos look a side short of goals.
Aberdeen are still chasing a Europa League place – guaranteed if Hearts lose the Final – but league wise all the visitors have is a chance of finishing above city rivals Hibs.
The Dons are no bigger than 7-10 with Marathonbet and I like them at 6-4 with Ladbrokes and bet365 to win to nil as a Super Single. Hearts haven’t scored in five trips to Pittodrie – three 2-0 defeats and two 0-0 draws.
Only one of the last 11 meetings between the teams at Pittodrie has gone over 2.5 goals or seen both score. Under 2.5 goals pays 8-11 at Marathonbet.
There is another English play-off with Tranmere meeting Forest Green in the League Two semi-finals. Forest Green won both meetings this season but finished just one point ahead of Rovers so it’s bound to be tight.
In France fourth-place St Etienne meet Montpellier in fifth with the home men fighting Lyon for the final Champions League spot and Montpellier with nothing to play for. Should be a Saints success.
As usual at this time of the week my concentration is on Saturday’s card but may add a double or treble if I get time to have a better look at the card.
My only bet on Thursday was a 16-5 treble on btts at Eintracht Frankfurt, Arsenal to score and Newport not to lose so I was relieved to see that land after I only added Newport at the last minute.
Scott’s member was also btts at Chelsea for another winners while SlipsTips had two out of three winners on the Arsenal game. His Aberdeen vs Hearts preview will be posted later.
Well done to all the winners including Greg who turned back the clock and took goals at Parnu as his nap. Expect to see more of the Estonians over the next few weeks.
